Watching the speaker thing and now this.
How the heck does any of it work, I mean who came up with the rules?
Which ever party has even the slightest majority gets to make the rules for everyone?
All seems really petty and not designed to help them work together.
Maybe we should elect actual children fresh out of kindergarten who were taught to get along and haven’t seen too many adults in the real world. They could take turns being the speaker and have to take a nap if they call anyone names or lie.

Until the whole House formally appoints House committee members and the new Speaker stamps it, there is no House of Representatives Committee on Rules.
It’ll be a quick rise, vote, done formality, but it hasn’t happened yet. They’re jumping the gun, hopefully not literally.

Well, when it was formed there wasn’t the idea that there would be two monolithic parties and one side that simply opposed the other 100% of the time, regardless of if the ideas were good or bad. In the 1700s/early 1800s there wasn’t near-instant media transmission, and the country was much less homogenized. Even the same party could have different focuses in different parts of the country, and were not so much of a single entity as they are today. As such, there was much less threat of one party just steamrolling the wishes of other party since many of their own members may object to such a thing.

Next, require Democratic members to wear some sort of special insignia. I don’t know, maybe concentric circles in black and white? Maybe one over their heart and a larger one on their back? Because when all the MAGA idiots show up armed to the teeth, they need to know who’s who and where to aim.

CCW licenses are super hard to get in DC (I am not even sure it’s possible with out being a cop/security) so wonder what the penalty is for someone like MTG to get caught with one in her purse?

We are getting CSPAN footage of stuff like AOC talking to Gosar and Gaetz because no party is in charge right now. Once a party is in charge, they take control of the cameras, and we only see what we are meant to.

Congressional Republicans would do well to remember that the last time a bunch of people showed up at that building intending violence the primary target of their anger wasn’t a Democrat, it was one of their own.
And other Republicans like Josh Hawley were clearly terrified by the mob’s presence too.
