That troop, third from the front, is Ready To
Fight
But how can you tip your hat to ladies you encounter indoors if you aren’t wearing it? I guess you kind of hold it up like are going to put it on, and then tip it?
Sounds like the only case of stolen valor here was the geezer who claimed there were no blacks in WW II. Are you sure you served, Pops?
I don’t think he did.
Goes great with the Klanburger.
I will no longer eat anything from Chili’s. They are now dead to me. DEAD, do you hear me, DEAD.
I hope their corporate profits go down the tubes.
You’d have though old white guy would have at least heard of the 761st “Black Panthers”?
o_0 because of one manager failing at his job? It isn’t like this is corporate policy. Bit of an extreme reaction, isn’t it?
You’re sort of missing the joke. The point is the old guy knew he wasn’t a veteran because service members never wear hats indoors, but uniformed service members are actually sometimes required to do just that. Specifically, when armed.
The manager keeps reminding me of a cross between Jughead and Shaggy
It wouldn’t apply in this case, as simply claiming military service does not violate the Stolen Valor Act of 2013.
I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression that doing so if it was to gain something is.
I’ll never step over Chili’s threshold or eat a thing they make, though that’s because they’re Chilis, and they serve revolting swill. While this manager was absolutely wrong, it’s not corporate policy to do what he did, and the company’s canned him for it, so don’t make the incident the reason you never eat there. Make their food the reason you never eat there.
Also, just because we’re talking about folks who served their country even when their country was giving to them hard and fast – I really must recommend this very sober appreciation of the late Senator Daniel Inouye (who became friends with Bob Dole in the VA hospitals as both were badly wounded in Italy) – both decided they would go to law school and try to run for Congress – and so they did.
Now it’s time for trump to step in if he really don’t support racism
We need to name and shame the real culprit in this story. The grumpy old white guy who cajoled the employees into harassing this actual vet, would sure like to know his alleged service record. Go over it with a fine tooth comb. wonder if there’s video from security cameras.
That was true of the original Stolen Valor Act, but it was declared unconstitutional. The revised Act of 2013 requires that you do it for gain, and that you represent yourself as the recipient of any of the following (from Wikipedia)…
- a Medal of Honor (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps)
- a Distinguished Service Cross,
- a Navy Cross,
- an Air Force Cross,
- a Silver Star,
- a Purple Heart,
- a Combat Infantryman’s Badge,
- a Combat Action Badge,
- a Combat Medical Badge,
- a Combat Action Ribbon,
- a Combat Action Medal,
Ah, I didn’t know that. Thanks for the clarification. I’m certainly no constitutional lawyer, but it seems weird to me that it’s unconstitutional to punish impersonating a soldier for gain, but it stops being unconstitutional when you impersonate medal recipients. Not saying medals aren’t significant, but I don’t recall anything about them in the constitution.
Or a nice hot bowl of Klan Chowder!
(Just make sure to ask if it is New England not Manhattan, real Klan Chowder is always white.)
