I’m just surprised that the ditch they were digging is 80m deep. That seems rather excessive… And I’d have expected that something 80m deep for moving water around would be called something like a channel, rather than “ditch” although translation being what it is, maybe the word commonly translated as “ditch” could mean anything from a dry crickbed to the raging Amazon and everything in-between. I don’t know.
