Clinton campaign breaks silence, demands declassification of Russian election hack intel

Yeah, we’ve gone beyond “low information voters” to “no information voters.”

Yeah, I’ve been assuming that these people were never aware of anything to begin with, and thus couldn’t have forgotten it. And they’re trying really hard to keep things that way, because on some level they understand that letting even a little bit of information in could cause everything to come crashing down for them. Trump fits into this category as well, but one can reasonably expect him to at least be aware of the things he’s had conversations about. But I suppose the whole thing with his constant bullshitting is that he probably isn’t even aware of the things he’s saying, on some level. So some of it is him not bothering to remember anything he talks about, because it’s not anything real, and some of it is not even really being fully aware of what he’s saying.

Is that it? I figured he had to have some angle, and given that he’s an idiot, isn’t charming, isn’t knowledgeable, etc., his options were kind of limited. I was figuring he just hired other people who were better at it than him, at this point. But that doesn’t seem to hold true for his presidential run.

In some ways, it’s more disturbing than that. Lobbyists for Taiwan contacted and manipulated his staff into setting up the phone conversation, which they told Trump about shortly before it happened. Trump’s not aware enough to understand it was a bad idea, and apparently no one on his staff was, either. So Trump couldn’t even manage to surround himself with anyone more savvy than himself, which means they’re totally at the mercy of lobbyists, who aren’t paid to care about the fallout. As soon as it happened, and word got out, Trump then went on Twitter, and trying to justify it, made things worse. It’s the worst possible situation, basically.

Did he? Or was it like Ryan, and it just sounded like he did, so that when nothing happens with it (because he continues to block it behind the scenes), it looks like he was on the side of the angels with nothing to hide, because he was totally willing to do it, too bad it didn’t happen, he had nothing to hide, you know.
Edit: Yup, it was a fake-out. He’s blocking investigations. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/republicans-russia-donald-trump-232528

[/quote]I’d go with “negative information voters” myself. These people are so inundated and invested in provably false misinformation that they would actually be more informed if they actually knew nothing.

Unless you catch “hackers” in the act, it is very hard to determine who was doing the hacking.

Eh, not really true. But he actually gets a pass on this one–most people don’t know any better.

If you have malware, the compiled binaries themselves can give clues as to their origins. For example: If the malware only uses Russian words for the names of Mutexes, it’s a decent bet that it didn’t come from China.

The IC community also shares information about the habits of individual groups (particularly state sponsored). So, although you may not derive anything from the IP addresses that accessed a machine, you can take a look at the all the stuff they touched because the way they touched it sometimes aligns with known protocols for certain groups.

So yeah man. When the IC comes forward and says, “It looked like the Russian gov’t”. It’s probably because it freaking looked like the Russian gov’t.

This can only end up with the Clinton campaign getting to see the intel then demanding that it remains classified from Jill Stein.

Yeah, I was going back and forth on that one, but I don’t think there is anything less than a no (real) information voter, because the no-information voter is already perfectly delusional. Gaps in knowledge get filled with mis-information, misunderstandings, false assumptions, etc. The less information they have, the more the voids get filled in with delusions - either based on their own prejudices or external fake news. At the point where you’re no longer getting actual information, you become disconnected from the real world, so the nature of the delusions doesn’t really matter.

He can be quite reasonable when it serves his interests, or just by accident.

He’s (presumably) less than six weeks away from being the president of the US. He’s not “most people” anymore. Yes, he’s a trainwreck on legs, but I think he’s lost his “he doesn’t have any relevant experience, so what do we expect?” privileges. He wanted this job, and he’d better fucking learn how to do it.

Didn’t your hear his spokes-fanatic the other week? Facts don’t exist, because people with poor thinking skills and a lot of motivation believe stupid things louder than people who actually know things.

Anti-intellectualism, folks. We have let that kind of stupid meme flourish for so long that it’s gained the power of the presidency.

I’m sure that there are people currently willing themselves to grow a third hand because they feel the need to do a triple facepalm.

Ross Perot used the same technique.

He doesn’t want the job; he just wants power and wealth for himself and his family. Pretty sure Mike Pence will be the one actually doing the work. Which is also terrible :fearful:
