There’s an entire group of politicians that desire this. They campaign about how dangerous everywhere is. They use it as a reason everyone needs a gun. That only they can make sure you will be able to keep your gun and that’s the only thing that will protect you from the dangerous world around you, that there are no other options.
They may offer Thoughts and Prayers after each event, but they have no desire to change it. This is the normal they’re campaigning on and desire.
I completely agree, but until it is rewritten, to be less vague and open to interpretation - so as to be specific on your well-made point - all the ammosexual would-be frontier cowboys who still behave as if a six-shooter being confiscated at the town limits is a threat to their personal safety and autonomy, will continue treat it like they and their judicial friends do at present.
We’re very far away from being able to pass a constitutional amendment, but fairly close to being able to stack SCOTUS. The latter is the faster, easier path. Worse, even with a perfectly written replacement, the current SCOTUS would still uphold Heller. It’s not like Scalia looked at the 2A and found inspiration for Heller. He started from his desired ideological outcome and let the opionion write itself. He just made that shit up from nothing.
Looks like the shooter grew up in a loving home full of tolerance.
I am a beleiever that the vast majority of kids are naturally good, and hate is taught This Dad just makes me sad for all the kids growing up in households like this. (And all the people that will be victims of the hate they pass down.)
They freely admit what they intend to do, hopefully this event gets extra protection from the local police. Or even local community members. I would go to show support and put distance between these idiots and the event.
