That might be a generalization. My mother doesn’t want to punch Nazis, and already did her part wiring control panels for Spitfires and Hurricanes during the war, to punch holes in Nazis by proxy. She just wants to punch two obvious lying bozos in positions of public trust.
She should go. And use to opportunity to say something to him that is also heard by others.
I’m surprised Mitch McConnell isn’t on her list.
She’s already done that.
Yes because that guy is SOOOOOOO open to LISTENING to anyone!!!
And my dog likes to play catch too.
Just saying, since you want to discuss completely irrelevant things.
The US team are huge favourites for the tournament. I’ve seen a few of the contenders and they aren’t playing all that well. I don’t know much about betting but the bookies are usually pretty right.
And she was asked what she would do and answered like a boss. I may shout for the US if this starts taking off with the team!
I dunno, this feels a bit more like Elmore Leonard.
LOL, She’s feisty. I like how the question of going never even entered her head. All that was missing was a hamburger comment, heh.
The Administration definitely has characters that could have walked out of an Elmore Leonard novel, but the overall national mood of angst/despair definitely has of a McCarthy vibe to me.
But why not ask the rest of the team? Is the rest of the team going to go? That is what I can find no explanation for.
With the standing that she’s a pro soccer player standing in front of one of the worst offenders of women, I kind of wish she’d go just to try get a penalty kick in. Right between the bars.
Wishful, impossible thinking, I know, but it’s fun to imagine.
Because, if you watch the video, it’s a one-on-one conversation and not being asked at an all-team press conference?
Regarding the pay gap, the team seems to stick together quite well. And I think this is currently the most prominent issue for them. I don’t have any further information why the team has three co-captains, but to me this is another indication, that they want to be seen as a team without any dedicated leader. OTOH it could mean, that there are three factions that don’t talk to each other, but I doubt that…
To be clear, as @Auld_Lang_Syne pointed out above, unfounded references to mental state are not welcome here, unless reported elsewhere (and it’s wishful thinking that such would be reported in terms of the subject here). Suggesting that evil behaviour = crazy people promotes the real stigma that those living with mental illness = dangerous, and we don’t want to do that.
Off-topic for this post, but your posts were moderated because you attempted to use “rape” as a metaphor. Don’t do that. Someone who is a rapist is not a metaphor. It’s a terrible, terrible reality.
BB position != BBS consensus. If you ever could really get a consensus out of thousands of BBSers anyway.
not a sports player/coach I take it?
many sports have multiple captains, or co-captains for a team. Some times its generically just 2-3 captains, or it may be position/side of the ball specific. Offensive captain, Defensive Captain.
In soccer, often there are 2-3 captains for Forwards, Mids, and Defenders/Keepers.
Now…this is just some history/info about it; but to be perfectly honest this is off topic/irrelevant. Who is or isn’t and the number of captains on the USWNT has zero bearing on why Rapinoe answered this question or why it was asked or why she would be interviewed. She is the most veteran player on that team and arguably the most successful one too. team captain, co-captain, whatever…she would eb the number one choice for interviews regardless. Additionally even as a captain or not, she speaks for herself and when interviewed has no responsibility to speak for every individual on the team.
She was asked a question, she answered it for herself. Unlike our current president who is asked questions and speaks ONLY for himself all the damn time when he is in fact supposed to be speaking for all of us and doesn’t. If you want to poke at or question the validity of anyone answering questions the way they do…start and end with criticizing that guy.
My knowledge of American sports is rather limited. In Football (what you call soccer) as it is played in the rest of the world, it is not at all typical to have multiple captains.
I have no idea where your hostility comes from. I have not questioned the way she answered the question. In addition, I try not to engage in whataboutisms. The “president” (your “president”?) is a douche, no doubt, but that was not the point here.
I’m assuming this is a US thing. Co-captains are not common in Britain at any level of either men or womens football, teams usually have one captain and a vice captain who takes over if the captain is substituted or unavailable for a game. My knowledge of the European game is more limited but I think they do the same from what I have seen.
It would be interesting to know how it differs from the one captain method.
