It’s not “civil disobedience” if it’s explicitly allowed.
At any rate I think the key question is “is this consequence proportionate?” Or even remotely proportionate?

Jeff Sessions wants to outlaw stupidity, but then there’s tRump & the TGOP to deal with.
GOP: “Denial of free speech to Ann Coulter is BAD. Denial of free speech to anti-Sessions protestors is GOOD.”
Forgive me if I hold my outrage until they’ve been sentenced.
Even if someone told me I shouldn’t laugh at him, I still would. More fun that way, also.
I’m outraged that a year in prison is even a realistic possibility in response to this incident. Even if she gets a suspended sentence the time and resources dedicated to arresting, trying and convicting her was disproportionate. They could have simply escorted her out of the building with a warning.
Bloody hell, how does sending this person to prison for a year make any sense?
She should have played it safe and yelled “LIAR” instead.
Margaret Atwood was right.
From what I read, she was convicted based more on what she did after she laughed, after a rookie cop decided to ask her to leave and she challenged the idea that she should leave over a natural reaction to a bat shit crazy statement. Some jury members felt they had to convict her because of the way the law was written. Apparently they didn’t understand jury nullification because this seems like the perfect place for it. Especially when they didn’t agree with the cop for asking her to leave in the first place. So she was convicted based on her reaction to what the jury felt was an unreasonable request by a cop. That seems like good grounds for an appeal.
Fair enough. President shitbird is all about law and order.
Is it time to take to the streets and take back our country?
I did! Totally worth it.
That’s a paddlin’.
If our democracy (the democratic part of democratic republic) can’t tolerate laughing at the laughable, I’m not sure I’d call it democracy.
What will be the final straw that breaks the US citizens back, what outrageousness needs to perpetrated against a person to get us as a Nation to act?
This is as good as any from the last 100 days…
Psycho, I hope a proper lawyer takes up this case on appeal
There it is. The good ole’ USA is now officially third world sham government, puts people away for mis-thinking. Sad day.
You’re kidding, right? The folks who were all over gun control here in California were Republicans. Of course in those days they were more concerned about the skin color of the gun owner, so at least that the American right is still as racist as ever.
