Oh, they aren’t sinning, since they are forgiven… they can sin all they want, as long as they go to church on Sunday & maybe on Wednesday, just to make sure.
I don’t think they care what The Others thnk about them, anyway; but they know the value of good PR & still make the same noises they always did.

Yeah, but I don’t think outsiders are as likely to buy the piety act, now. Or pretend to buy it, out of politeness. I think previously, evangelicals could say, “We believe in X” and that went largely unchallenged in mainstream discourse because it’s not polite to call someone a liar, but now they’ve revealed what they really care about, and it ain’t “X.”
