the school’s website says its mission is to “foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in the next generation of problem solvers and builders.”

All things that Musk has tried to beat out of his kids.

I don’t think Melon knows what he’s wishing for because it seems like those qualities are what he defined as “woke.” Again, what with the indoctrination and grooming tendency. He is such a creep.

Ages 3-9. Elementary starts at age 5 in Texas.

I wonder if they’ve bothered to get licensed with the state agency that regulates daycares. Pretty sure if they are caring for kids younger than 5, they must do so whether they are a charter school or not.

Ad Astra is half of Kansas’s state motto.

Yep. The high school he sent his estranged child to, the one he blames for “brainwashing” her, explicitly emphasises all of those things.

It’s Montessori (which… seems like Montessori would be too woke for him), so they do 3 year cycles. The kids stay in the classes for 3 years, so they start with age 3 for primary and then lower elementary at 6. That gets you to 9.

I’m surprised that they’re requiring AMI cert for the guides (in the job posting)… I guess he figured he couldn’t half-ass it or pretend like he’s some great Montessori expert and get away with that…

Maybe because he wants some of the wealthy families in Austin to send their kids and certification would be a must for a lot of them? Somehow I don’t think this place will be affordable enough for most parents working at the Giga factory

Yeah, no idea… I don’t know how pricey the other school is, but I think it’s on the campus? Could be that they offer cheap or free tuition for employees? Seems out of character for Musk, but those sorts of perks are common among tech companies, so… :woman_shrugging:

Bastrop is fairly close to the factory, 20 minute drive. Maybe discounted for the “right” employees as part of the upper management benefits package. A useful way to lock them into working for Tesla when leaving would mean their kid has to change schools. I just can’t imagine him subsidizing the education of a child of a factory floor worker.

Yeah, I find that highly unlikely too. He’s too much of a classist asshole for that. But who knows…

“Well, we can’t afford to do this if you unionize”

Will he be attending this fall?

Whether you’d want your kids learning what Elon Musk teaches is a different story though.

He’s just trying to get a jump-start in order to cash in on the ‘school voucher’ crusade in Texas.
Czar Abbott & the rest of the Troika are hell-bent on destroying public education in Texas. The Czar just got another multimillion dollar bribe “campaign contribution” from this asshole.

The other two members of the Troika are furthering the theocratic ambitions of these assholes & see nothing wrong with using public funds for private/religious schools.

In the meantime, public schools in Texas are being starved for funds; teachers didn’t get a raise despite a budget surplus of over 30 billion dollars.
All because Abbott’s voucher program got shot down & he threw a hissy fit.
He could’ve called a special session to address the isssue, but nooooooo…

There was no problem spewing billions of dollars on that security theater fiasco at the border, though.

 I had forgotten about the voucher crusade. You might be right. I’m hoping the budgeting disaster in AZ will slow that shit down. Be nice to get a whole bunch of blue state senators and reps elected this cycle to help.

Also, not just billions in the border security theater. 11 billion as of April 2024. Our schools could have really used that money.

I wonder if this is one of the ways he’s trying to soothe the sting of the more in-demand workers who are having to move from California to Texas. “Don’t worry about the crazy Texas education system run by reactionaries, we’ll have our own schools!” Problem is, since Musk is ultimately in charge, it’s replacing a set of reactionaries with one reactionary. I also don’t know how they smooth over the loss of reproductive freedoms - which wouldn’t impact people avoiding pregnancy (because they have the resources to fly to California to deal with things), but people trying to have families and ending up having their lives threatened unnecessarily by pregnancy complications.

A Texas horse ranch?

I can think of one guy that might find that an attractive prospect and has a lot in common with Elon

As a tenured teacher who belongs to a kick-ass union, I wouldn’t dream of working at a school like that.

Odds of this turning out better than Kayne West’s effort?
