I was dinking around the CDC county map today, and Miami-Dade County reported a 90% vaccination rate. Which is down right incredible, that’s getting into the range of actual herd immunity. Most of Florida was considerably higher than other places supposedly more accepting of mandates. What’s going on? Is it better to let it run rampant and scare everyone into vaccines? (/s on that last).

No link because phone, but there were counties reporting 0 cases, but positivity of 3%. Which seems…off. Is it actually all lies?

“ “There is no world, I think, where [the effectiveness] is the same level . . . we had with [the] Delta [variant],” Bancel said in an interview with the Financial Times published on Tuesday. “I think it’s going to be a material drop. I just don’t know how much because we need to wait for the data. But all the scientists I’ve talked to … are like, ‘This is not going to be good’.”

Last night, Japan reported its first case of the omicron variant, though it was caught at the airport. A man in his thirties who had travelled to Namibia tested positive on arrival. Today, the news is finally giving us some insight into why he was in Namibia: evidently, the man is a diplomat.

Even though he implicitly frames it all as the government/White House’s fault.

Good news? Maybe, kind of. Just once I’d like to see a drug maker give a drug to society for the good of society without anything in return.

And who comes up with the names of these drugs?
