Brandon has now lost all of her children. Her other son, David, died five years ago. She also has to move out of her house because she shared rent with her sons.

Oh my, I was just reading our local Facebook group and a woman said her family doctor said not to get the vaccination because there was no information available about the vaccine. I suggested she should find a doctor that can read and she said we’ll have to agree to disagree.

Hey Madison, One day when you look back at these happy times, you’ll know that your Dad was an asshat who was directly responsible for allowing the pandemic to continue unabated and that he has the blood of thousands of the most vulnerable on his hands. Not because he made a mistake or was wrong, but because he cared more about increasing points with the MAGA crowd than protecting the people he was responsible for. Not sure what they’re saying here. Is it that there’s 4x the antibodies?

Having worked as a server myself, I’m pretty confident she came in while sick not because she had some theoretical belief in hard work but because she needed to pay her rent.

That is quite odd. I believe that they are saying that a person who has had a third jab is five or six times less likely to be severely ill or hospitalized with COVID-19 after 10 days (i.e. looking at actual outcomes with respect to serious illness and hospitalization), but 10 days is not a very long time to get sick after getting a third jab to begin with…

This gives a few more details, although I can’t find the original study yet. It looks at actual outcomes, rather than indicators like antibody titers and such. Being early, the numbers are small, but it is encouraging.

This is interesting, encouraging, and also one study, and a slide based on a preprint at that, but finally some actual evidence that neutralizing antibody titers do actually correlate with outcomes. This has been an assumption all along, but I despise assumptions without evidence. This went back and looked at the original Moderna studies, so pre-delta, but found strong correlation between lower titers and breakthrough infections. Needless to say, further research is indicated, but this is good.

It seems the data mentioned several times about a drop in vaccine efficacy was all right, but the statistical analysis and it’s interpretation was not.

I can certainly follow the logic, although, truthfully, I am not a statistician, and the math escapes me at times. Certainly, allowing for the very high vax rate in Israel makes the 60% stat actually look encouraging re vax efficacy. I am going to study this a bit more. This data could come in handy should someone try to use the Israeli study to debunk factual statements. Not that such a thing would ever happen.

Yeah, it had me looking to see if there is a term for the emotion I’m feeling so often these days - a combination of soul-crushing heartbreak and blood-boiling infuriation.
The best I’ve been able to come up with is, “fuck these fucking GQPers and let’s make sure to do everything in our power to get them OUT of power.” But it’s a bit wordy.
