You, sir, are a true hero and, no matter how many times you may hear that, it’s not enough.

that’s a bit surprising that firearm deaths last year exceeded traffic fatalities. i’m somewhan curious if they sort out death from suicide out of either of those categories.

i also thought this was wild:

Other officer deaths were attributed to beatings, Sept. 11-related illness and stabbings.

the toxic chemicals and particulates just keep on doing their thing. i’m sure cops aren’t the only ones dealing with that

i’m not sure it’s proper to say to anyone that you’re glad they have strep, but well… these are strange times… :grimacing:

rest up! hope you feel better soon

Findings This cohort study of 24 114 participants found that community-living middle-aged and older adults with confirmed, probable, or suspected COVID-19 had nearly 2-fold higher odds of worsening mobility and physical function compared with adults without COVID-19, although most participants with COVID-19 had mild to moderate disease and were not hospitalized.

Meaning These findings suggest that individuals with mild and moderate COVID-19 who were predominantly not hospitalized experienced deficits in functional mobility compared with those without COVID-19.

Except when talking about people drinking urine, it seems…

I live in a country where any such suggestion is obviously taking the mickey, and if that’s not the case, I’ll just keep pretending that I live there anyway…

Honest baffled questions:

Isn’t there a institution-wide mask mandate, with signs and an explanatory note which masks are acceptable, and how to wear them?

Are there no entrance controls?

Isn’t there staff involved before you see people who are taking care of precautions?

And, also a honest question, what do you say to those parents?

Last baffled question: they are allowed to leave the house, together, while being sick with COVID-19? Aren’t they legally required to stay home, quarantined and in isolation?
Here, there are exceptions, e.g. for getting tested when you do not have symptoms. Otherwise, you pretty much are confined to your place.

There is, but it has no teeth. No way to enforce it in the patient rooms.

Are there no entrance controls?

There are, but people lie

Isn’t there staff involved before you see people who are taking care of precautions?

See above

Free-dumb!!! No, no legal requirements at all. This is 'Murca!!

Seriously, given that I am literally and figuratively swimming in the stuff every bloody day (over 50% positivity currently) it won’t change my risk much, but the “I don’t care if I kill you, this is more convenient for me” attitude just bugs the hell out of me. As my wife told me when I was complaining about how they were trying to kill me, “No, they are not trying to kill you. They are not even thinking of you. They only think about themselves.” She is a wise woman.

I can… relate. To put it mildly.

She is.

I sincerely hope you guys are ok, and will be ok until the very end of this.

You and most of your colleagues are a shining beacon in this thick soup of stupid.
