Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 4)

The seems like a good idea. Something about no federally funding for schools that requires vaccines.

Most of Ontario :canada: is getting down towards last summer’s levels. Test positivity is at 6.7% and hospital stats at August 2023 levels and dropping, so :crossed_fingers:. Masking in public is seen, yay.

So here’s an idea: we need a Discourse plug-in which

  1. gathers a list of all the threads you participated referring to COVID, and
  2. creates an HTML document of those threads, with archived copies of linked articles, if those are still up.

For those of us whose “oral histories” are conducted on-line, it would give us both personal response and context.

Older Adults Now Able to Receive Additional Dose of Updated COVID-19 Vaccine

Today, CDC Director Mandy Cohen endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation for adults ages 65 years and older to receive an additional updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose. The recommendation acknowledges the increased risk of severe disease from COVID-19 in older adults, along with the currently available data on vaccine effectiveness.

It’s not nice to try to fool nature.

Maybe not laugh-out-loud funny, but definitely ironic.

It would be nice to think that this might cause him to reevaluate his life, but I suspect it will take more than that.

The article does not mention if Johnson has been vaccinated, although he sounds like the sort who would assume his lifestyle is so healthy that he has no need of medical intervention.

I certainly hope that having caught COVID once hasn’t shortened my life by ten years. I blame work for catching it at all.

Maybe the paxlovid early on helped.

I too am hoping the Paxlovid helped. I take some heart in remembering how quickly it made me feel better.

Our ding dong daughter and husband thought it would be a good idea too fly out to Vegas to see Twice(K Pop) with 65,000 close personal friends at Allegiant Stadium.

They wore masks in the airport and the plane but not around the stadium.

They flew out late Friday and got home very early Monday morning.

By Tuesday morning 102 fever, by Thursday, 103.

She took two covid tests, nope.

We told her today to get to a doctor you goof because she still had a high fever.

Influenza A. So tamiflu and fluids.

They’ve both had all the vaccines so hopefully it goes quickly.

I’ll wait til she’s better before she gets the I told you so she knows is coming.

By the pictures they had a great time, I wish I was young again, I get tired just seeing her at the airport.

She did saying everyone at the doctor had masks on.

I hope they recover soon. Better flu than COVID though

After the tamiflu she said she got worse and then she got better. Today she just has a low grade fever and she’s eating again. So it looks like she’s almost done.

But now her 2 adopted kittens are on antibiotics for some sort of infection and they have a fever.

Her and her husband both work from home so they are fortunate to be able to take care of each other and the cats.
