One of my favorite live bands is playing a show relatively close by next month, a day or so after my birthday… but I just can’t see attending. It feels too risky right now to be around so many people. I hate it-- I haven’t been to a live show in ten years, and if we weren’t in a middle of a pandemic I’d have already bought a ticket as a present for myself.
They never seem to need “both sides” weighing in when the subject is whether some foreign country needs to be more “open”
It’s just like the civil rights movement
For the first time since mid-December, the number of ICUs occupied by people with COVID-19 in Germany started rising yesterday.
Case number today, Monday the 24th of January 2022, is nearly the double of last Monday. Also, the daily case number report is not static, but is corrected as numbers are coming in. And numbers are coming to the RKI with a considerable and still rainsing lag: the caseload is overwhelming the Gesundheitsämter, and regionally lab capacity is maxed out.
We still have far to many people who are not vaccinated (but would be eligible).
Meanwhile in DC
Finally… we get a “hey, wait a minute” moment from the CBC on the Long COVID file. Frankly… too sunny. Media here seems to be bending over backwards not to upset people too much.
The Right in this country hate:
Mr. Rogers
Tom Hanks
Big Bird, and now
Public Libraries?
The virus has gone rogue!
I don’t know anything about this twitter person but he was documenting that protest this past weekend.
Hmmmm
Somebody should check her purse.
Still no asshole vaccine.
That’s not for the rich and famous sections but f the code.
This seems odd, not the fact that they’re giving them out but the fact that the masks are not packaged individually.
The article says a greeter wearing gloves will be arranging 3 masks on a table near the entrance.
Are you sure? The article you link says
The N95 masks will be on a table near the grocery entrance and greeter stand. A Meijer greeter, who will be wearing gloves, will arrange the masks in piles of three for customers to take.
It doesn’t say that they’re not individually packaged (as far as I saw in the article; of course I could have missed/misread)…
There’s a photo included in this CNN article that shows individually wrapped ones laid out on a table and being given out by a gloved worker, apparently at a Hy-Vee store somewhere:
https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/24/health/free-n95-masks-pharmacies-health-centers-us/index.html
I think I just assumed based on the photo and the description.
My wife has a grocery pick up in the morning at Miejer, maybe I’ll go along and poke my head inside if there aren’t alot of unmasked shoppers.
N.B. There will be a lot of unmasked shoppers. Michigan and Indiana Meijer’s stores are the same in this regard.
