please tell the white evangelicals, and the christian right generally that. they’re the ones that believe - wrongly - that the constitution is biblically inspired, that america is a christian nation, that the separation of church and state is not a principle of our government, and that life begins at conception
christians used their religion to justify enslaving other human beings to make a profit, stealing lands from native peoples, promoting eugenics
they’re the ones - along with the american oligarchs - behind the recent coup attempt, the increasing hate crimes, and all this supreme court revisionism. and yes: even the proud boys
if you can convince them it isn’t christian of them, you’ll be the first to do so

I’m very much on the record that these fascists do not represent the entire religion. But that goes both ways. This is a strain of Christanity that exists and has managed to find its’ way into power in America. This authoritarian, white power strain has a rather long history and we can’t just say it doesn’t exist or that’s it not “real” because it does exist, and we don’t fix that by ignoring it.
