COVID-19 isolation activities

Staying out of the hospital should be a primary goal, no matter what the activity.

I avoid using chainsaw and other tools that can cause serious injuries as much as I can until the current crisis ends for exactly that reason.

I cut my hand with milling cutter last week and washing hands isn’t fun right now. Luckily the spindle was stopped so I avoided ER visit (stitches were unnecessary, not counting cosmetic reasons).

More art by me, continuing my “art is therapy” vibe. About 20+ hours over 5 days for this one, and this is the 50% scale version. Photoshop again, no tricks or filters just penwork.

I believe that the saxophonist is Duke Silver.

They’re 90’s Ska/pop-punk band Goldfinger. The ones who did a cover of 99 Luftbaloons. And who are still apparently together, and made a Christmas EP the other year.

If that’s not your thing, then it’s still a bunch of folks getting together while locked down, having fun and playing music, just like they did 20 years ago, which seems kind of fun.

Found a new rabbit hole to dive down: the FlightGear flight simulator. So far, I’ve barely scratched the surface, but it’s pretty impressive - and cross-platform FOSS to boot.

I managed to successfully land the Cessna 172 without crashing or damaging it, which is a good start. The landing was a bit awkward, though, as I wound up weaving down the runway. Having a three-axis joystick instead of a proper yoke and rudder pedals can make both ground handling and in-air turn coordination a bit tricky.
