Undoubtedly he had a load of Sausalito Gold in the back of that truck, and didn’t want to share.
Don’t make too much of the license plate, BTW. I’ve never rented a U-Haul for a 1-way trip that had in-state plates, they travel all over the place. When I moved from Arizona to California, the truck I rented had Florida plates.
