De La Soul’s Classic Album De La Soul Is Dead Is Turning 30. It Was The First Album I Fell In Love With
Thanks for that. When I heard Autobahn for the first time, I never imagined anything like this.
Disponha!
So do I. I always imagined something more conservative, like the clip for “Trans Europe Express”, something involving a Mercedes Benz or a BMW rolling smoothly through the german countryside…
Me neither, it strikes me as more planète sauvage than mensch machine.
Which has a nice trippy jazzy soundtrack more keeping with the animation.
Anois ar theacht an tsamhraidh!
(Glad winter is just about gone)
Also, what a great article!
Shocked that the pigfucker Bob Geldof is described as “her friend Bob Geldof, the musician and activist”. Rather than “some old posh shit involved in mass killing and making obscene fortunes off shit TV and styling himself as some kind of seigneur and better than you peasants”.
Honestly the tearing the photograph thing was bizarrely shocking in the US. Didn’t raise much concern here or, as far as I know, the rest of the world. Maybe it’s like the flag thing? Weird anyway.
I’m glad to see her getting media on her own terms, mostly I wish they would leave her alone. Particularly when she’s off meds. Seriously. Leave people alone when they are having episodes.
I think it’s because it was so close to the end of the Cold War, and in the US, Pope John Paul II (electric boogaloo) was seen as a key figure in helping to end the Cold War. Even lots of Protestants sort of worshiped the guy because of that.
But how will the tabloids sell papers! /s
She seems to be in a much better place now, which I’m happy about. I love that woman.
She had a bit of a wobble not so long ago but, mercifully, I think people began to realise a little bit that leaving her alone was the better thing to do.
Seeing as I always hated Karol and Ratzinger it’s hard for me to remember that he was liked. Still is in the Polish community.
Which is part of why Poland’s going to shit right now.
