Now that I’ve seen his calculated manipulations, and especially that smirk, I am convinced that he knew exactly what he was doing (didn’t act that way for the professional camera, you’ll notice).
what calculated manipulations? and the smirk was him obviously being pleased with his dad joke skills. he didn’t act that way for the professional camera because they were professional people presumably, he had already noticed her in the audience when he was talking before (he mentioned in the interview on h3h3), he knew there was something up with her.
he’s clearly talking about his weight, it’s a self deprecating dad joke. he even points at his gut. he said as much afterwards, do you have any actual reason to doubt him? I don’t.
My take on that was the bearded man that was initially standing to her right was with her or had been speaking to her. She panned towards him and spoke as if she were answering a question. He then went behind her and stood to her left, and she panned towards him again when Mr. Pantoja asked if she wanted his name. It looked like she was looking for some input from him and he made a little sort of shrug in a whatever, go ahead kind of manner.
