Funnel cakes have even made it out to Hawaii. The traditional ‘plate lunch’ is still the go-to, with tickets being sold as fundraisers everywhere: two scoops rice, 1 scoop mac salad, and an entree (teri beef, chili, Korean fried chicken, etc.) Or the old standby, loco moco (2 scoops rice, hamburger patty, fried egg on top, the entire doused in brown gravy.)

The WI fair food is overall pretty good. The signature food is the cream puff-not much smaller than your head, loaded with fresh whipped sweet cream-fantastic. Also special are the cheese curds, funnel cakes and the choco-malt milk from the 4H stand. And ear of roasted corn is obligatory, but brats, corn dogs, pork tenderloin sandwiches and a grilled cheese sandwich are optional. It all depends on your stamina.
