Deleted video shows Marjorie Taylor Greene berating AOC through office mailbox slot

If I ever get elected to any office, I want to be sworn in on a comic book. Because if you must have imaginary friends, why settle for some bronze age Archie Bunker shit?

MTG vs AOC no contest. MTG is bat-shit psycho, she couldn’t handle a real debate.

Sort of, but not really. Come to think about it, no.

She has primary problems.

Definitely. Calling MTG mentally ill does a huge disservice to people with actual mental illness, who more often than not are just trying to get by as best they can.

She on the other hand is a moronic, immature, loud-mouthed bigot with a gun roaming the halls of Congress.

Yeah it’s actually important to note that in our society, she is currently considered not only functional but representative.

Unpleasant and sad, but true.

In a statement, Greene’s office told Gray to mind his own business and called it a “pathetic smear” when he asked them about the homestead exemptions.

Is that what they’re calling “the truth” these days?

Also, I figure “pathetic smearing” is exactly what Greene was up to as she traipsed around the halls of Congress attacking any non-Q who happened to be at work. :man_shrugging:

Usually when a smear gets results that noxious the suggested treatment is cryosurgery.

The word “debate” means something totally different to Q/Repubs.

To them, “debate” means to be louder, interrupt and talk over your opponent, and otherwise attempt to intimidate them to prevent them from expressing their views on the issue. (Remember the trump/clinton debates?) To them, the louder more obnoxious “debater” is the winner.

I was just thinking, reading through the thread, that I’d probably pick the world atlas. That’s something I believe in: we’re all in this together, so let’s quit being assholes to each other and to the biosphere.
But I’d respect someone who chose a physics book.

I agree that its a wise decision to not allow these types of statements. I missed the rule change. I apologize to the community for my moment of weakness.

To show them your belief is superior to theirs.

I think you are allowed to affirm rather than religiously swear, as some religious groups view swearing to god or on a religious text as sacrilege.

Yes, I know that. I’m saying religiously swearing in on holy books are a pretty direct violation of the 1st amendment. Like the national day of prayer. And faith based initiatives.

You know. All the policies republicans have passed. Along with voter disenfranchisement laws, and tax breaks for rich people.

Isn’t it more of a personal choice on the part of the person making the oath? I don’t mind if a person makes an oath to their god as long as it is meaningful to them. Requiring irreligious people to make an oath on a holy book that means nothing to them, now that I have a problem with.

Is it just a personal thing? I keep seeing people use religiosity in this swearing in thing as another front in the culture wars.

I think it’s a step in the right direction that people have the option of swearing on the Quran. If everyone had to swear on the King James Bible regardless of personal belief, that would be imposing religion.
