Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein not fired after all

Now, was that Sarah Sanders speaking as the Mouth of Sauron, Moron’s Metatron, or just herself trying patch things until Thursday?

(It must be a complicated job trying to schedule the shitstorms to land in the right order.)

That is roughly the page I’m on, but as a white guy born in the American midwest I don’t exactly have skin in the game.

Hey man. If it makes you happy. It’s all whatever.

Well this is comforting:

The stink is strong.

Here they all are with Sessions doing the hand jive.

can I ask a serious question, why is the newsmedia on the left (looking at you MSNBC) sounding downright GLEEFUL over this, are they insane? I’m not imagining it, they are SO EXCITED every time to talk about it

Reminds me exactly, right down to the tone, of how they constantly, endlessly, every minute of every hour would talk about the Clinton emails regardless if there was anything to discuss or not.

  1. If Rosenstein resigned, Trump could invoke the Vacancies Act to install his successor (without needing congressional approval). If he were sacked, normal succession applies.

  2. All these sources “familiar to the matter” seem to be liars.

It could also be an old school trick to find a leaker (i.e. feeding someone false but juicy news to see if it turns up externally).

There’s a really good fivethirtyeight article about unnamed sources like this. Lays out the basics for how to interpret “someone with direct knowledge” (places it in group 6, “Sourcing that tells you nothing.”

I like this theory the best. Makes the most sense. Serves double duty on getting a read on the consequences of something they are considering.

Keep in mind which White House we’re talking about here. Trump and his most loyal aides aren’t known for decisions that make a lot of sense from a long-term strategic level.

You missed out Short-term as well, there, surely?

Too bad that moving the Rosenstein showdown to Thursday will distract from Christine Blasey Ford testifying in an open hearing on Thursday.

Obviously an oversight.

The only “term” level strategic sense this administration makes is single-term

The Dems have requested that Ford’s scheduled testimony on this coming Thursday be cancelled.

Gee, maybe Ford could say: “Oh, darn, I missed my flight.”
