Dildo throwing rebels hold Paiute artifacts hostage, refer to native peoples as "savages"

No, I am defending against what are half-truths at the best.

Yes, I would like to see the artifacts put in a more secure, stable environment as well.

Hey, I do get to bring up again that a friend while looking for Dinosaur bones in remote federal land found a Duck Pot just sitting on the ground. He called people and gave the GPS to get archaeologist out to salvage it.

Sometimes leaving delicate artifacts where they are IS the best way of preserving them. If a pot has managed to remain undisturbed for centuries then it may well last centuries more if nobody messes with it.

Of course that assumes that you don’t open up the area to a bunch of idiots driving ATVs or putting new roads in a protected refuge.

one is a half truth. the other…is a null set. I can’t compare the two.

I will stick with the Indian Country Media Network Today folks as a source of news and information about how the local tribes feel on these issues, rather than videos by the insurgency. I understand the Dildo throwing freedom fighters feel they are honoring the native people, but it seems the native people aren’t warmly receiving it.

So the lube didn’t help, then.

I think I missed the dildo-throwing part…

It looks like they tired of that joke and changed their name to Citizen Potawatomi Nation some time ago.

Oh I agree that that is a good source on how they feel about the issue. I think it is affecting their journalistic integrity.

I am also 100% in agreement that the Paiute neither want or need their help nor want anything to do with them, really.

But 1) they did take the quote out of context and 2) they use the word “hostage” which doesn’t accurately describe what is going on. Unlawful possession, even seizure, etc would be a more accurate description. I haven’t heard or seen any report of them refusing to turn them over or saying they would do so only under certain conditions (that may indeed change). THAT is holding something hostage.

They have the two biggies of 1) occupying a government building and 2) damaging some of the surrounding terrain. That is plenty of reason to send them dick shaped candies with out false emotionally driven headlines.

How about “angrily sweeping a table full of sex toys onto the floor during a propaganda video?”

So more of “dildo-sweeping”, not throwing? I am even more disappointed.

If you’re disappointed Imagine being the poor militia member whose job it is to clean up the mess off the floor.

So you’re saying BoingBoing isn’t conducting journalism ethically?

And why do you even expect that from an entertainment site?

Actually it’s about ethics in dildo journalism.

A loss would happen only in case of an actual damage occuring. Until then, it’s merely a potential loss.

And you won’t get a Nobel Prize for a potential chemistry.

No, he is referring to the fact I hi-jacked “hostage” from the ICMNT piece.

They aren’t conducting journalism. They are just posting links to it.

To be fair - it was in the original article, you didn’t make it up.

it does so adequately however.

When did a little hyperbole become so severe as a loss of “integrity”? Maybe they’re biased, but you don’t sound unbiased is all. You do sound well informed though!

here, for you :slightly_smiling:

a loss of accountability.

It’s an intangible, yet critical for society.

I’ll get upset only if something gets actually damaged. Until then it’s getting upset for the feeling of righteous anger, which is apparently a reward on its own, otherwise it wouldn’t be so common.

It’s the results that ultimately count. The intangible crap is a means to them, not an end on its own.
