Dolphins are taking over Venice canals while Italians are in quarantine

Oh no. What the two of them did with dolphins is NSFW

The second sentence is true, but the first sentence shouldn’t be deduced from it I think. The effective population of Venice has plummeted, and also all the economic activity that tourists generate, and along with those plummets the overall quality of the water will have risen, in addition to the reduction in turbidity.

I mean, sure - the people who live there are still flushing raw shit into the canals, so you wouldn’t want to drink it (aside from that whole brackish water thing anyway) or swim in it. But I have to assume that the water is much cleaner - as well as clearer - than it was 3 weeks ago.

Back to business as usual, plus extra pollution to make up for lost time. If the world’s population were capable of learning anything from their mistakes, EVER, we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with.

Kinda neat. Sad it took a pandemic to make it happen. Also, I love abandoned places and I always wanted to know what the bottom level of the buildings look like in Venice. Do they just keep building on the same ancient piling and structures? What’s in those floors that are submerged? I’d love to see some of that. I wonder if a side effect will be cleaner, clearer canal waters.

Heh. That was an interesting experiment in SO MANY ways. It also, by the by, was the very rough basis for Ted Mooney’s science fiction novel, “Easy Travel to Other Planets”. Surprisingly good, considering it involves sex with a dolphin (although no, it’s not porn) ^^’ .

I don’t seem to find any evidence of dolphins in Venice Italy. Assuming that the only related images circulating are from southern Italy. Did anyone do fact checking on this? #fakenews? I assume better from bb.

Or maybe sentient dolphin space pilots?

Star Tide Rising?

I’d love to see a movie or TV series based in the Uplift saga, for sure =o .

Finally! After 3 years of Trump and his minions, The Onion has posted a story that instantly reads as fiction… I think.
