You can love her now, but the moment she steps off the Select Committee dais, she returns to being just as bad as Tom Cotton, railing about her enemy, the Democrat-Socialist-Communists trying to take away her way of life. That’s what’s so weird about her particular streak of, uh, sensibility regarding Trump and Jan 6. How can she be so clear-minded about the Insurrection, while at the same time being a once-and-future severe Conservative?

Mike pence is a religious zealot.
He defied Trum’ps demands for a reason.

Occam’s razor says he defied Trump’s wishes because he had enough rudimentary understanding of how government works to realize he didn’t have the authority to do what Trump wanted to do even if he wanted to.

Pence doesn’t deserve praise for this any more than the NOAA deserves praise for restraining themselves from nuking hurricanes or the Secretary of the Interior deserves praise for not putting a down payment on Greenland.

You don’t need to have a complicated political motive to defy Trump, you just need to have some semblance of sanity.

It is a silver lining. It means the actual darkest timeline went down a different leg in the trousers of time. Mind you, we’re only a couple points of opacity lighter.
