“Doodletown Fifers” was a #12 hit for the Sauter-Finegan Orchestra way back in 1952. Maybe it wasn’t a ghost town then.

There is also the “Deserted Village” in the Watchung Preserve near Summit NJ which was abandoned in 1880s - also closer to NYC than Rockland County. Fun (short) mountain to hike and if you hit the right trail, you randomly find the village. They’ve restored many buildings and you can explore the area, including the dam+waterfall at the end of Lake Surprise. link on Weird NJ

I live across the Hudson River from Doodletown. It’s a cool place to visit. The cemetery is still open, and former residents of the town can still be buried there.
