It certainly would be interesting (and entirely appropriate at this particular moment in history IMHO) if everyone who ever bought a gun with the idea of protection against the govt. (and we can skip the discussion of how stupid that is) or being part of a “militia” showed up en masse to protests.
Not to protect the police, but to protect fellow citizens’ constitutional rights.
I have to imagine that the police, facing down an equally well armed, likely also largely white, force of arms would be less likely to act like tyrants.
Mr. teenyweener there would be less likely to push a senior citizen down if there was the possibility of receiving a fatal shot to the head for doing it.
I guess you haven’t seen the idiots “enhancing” stills of the guy bleeding on the ground CSI-style to point out that he’s a crisis actor, and the blood was all fake, delivered by a few pixels taped to his cheek. I swear, just when I thought people couldn’t get stupider.
That police officer and his superiors should have to go before the entire community that empowered them and slowly explain what the fuck they were doing. Then you remember what the cops have been doing to get us to this point for ages and it all just blends into one numb mess of dispair.
BTW: the people in that video aren’t actually Black Panthers per se.
The original Black Panther Party was basically destroyed by the FBI; the surviving members are mostly in prison.
There are assorted armed groups that claim a link to the Panther heritage (Huey P. Newton Gun Club, New Black Panther Party, etc). While some of them do good work, some of them are rather sketchy and have little in common with the ideology of the original BPP (who, to be clear, were not just “Black people with guns”; they were Marxist revolutionaries).
It’s unclear who exactly the folks in this video are aligned with.
Everything that the Black community has ever done to try and improve our conditions in this society since slavery was abolished has been undermined, sabotaged or outright destroyed.
So it was planned and targeted? Sounds like the whole police hierarchy up to and including the mayor need to be charged. That goes way beyond some cranked up violent police officers and sounds more like a criminal conspiracy. It was brave of the mayor to confess to his part of the crime.
