The way he “loaned” himself money appears to be illegal.
Drip, drip.
Just change the lyrics to “the meh pretender” and it works.
Republicans more concerned about incoming Democrat Maxwell who honestly can’t afford an apartment than incoming Republican Santos who is suspiciously paid by someone and dishonest about everything.
It’s almost like the two parties are different.
Liars? We can do liars. Poors? Holy shit! We can’t have poors here!
Do the mice demand $1 ransoms?
Dollars are fine, just don’t offer cookies.
Oh dear Goddess, please let him fail…
He’s continuing to work the phones, etc, but we’ll see what happens tomorrow.
Thing is, I don’t know what other options people have if he can get to 218?
Dead girl or live boy?
As house speaker? I’ll take the living dead girl!
LOL
By options, I thought you meant some remaining way of stopping McCarthy.
does anyone know how they pick the nominees before they vote? can house members nominate anyone they want?
( and are there any other nominees right now other than mccarthy? )
I think people just say they want the position and try to round up supporters.
The different parties hold their meetings (organizing caucus?) before the opening of Congress to pick their respective candidates.
Then the parties nominate their candidates on the opening day of the congressional session & a vote is held.
If no one wins- the parties pick candidates again and vote again. After even more deals were made.
Really - it’s all usually done before the caucus meetings with lining up votes for that meeting. McCarthy has the votes to be his party’s nominee- but not enough to win the election when the session opens.
Though if no one has enough votes during the real election- it can go on forever.
Kinda makes Pelosi look even more impressive, doesn’t it?
And nice to see the Republicans in complete disarray and forming a circular firing squad.
