Elections 2023 and 2024 (Part 1)

He’s a shit excuse for a president human, but his ravings could make good band names:

“Weaponized Lawfare” heavy metal, obvs.
“Russia Russia Russia” obscure indie alt-folk
“Lawless Documents Hoax” grunge
“Hunter Biden Laptop From Hell” either a metal band, or a movie spoofed by MST3K

“Man of principles!?!” C’mon. This is not a serious person.

Says the man who voted illegally when he moved from NY to Florida…

Huh?

In his emergency appeal to the Supreme Court, Kennedy argued that his supporters in the state “have a constitutional right to have Kennedy placed on the ballot — and to vote for him, whether he is campaigning for their vote or not.”

It’s definitely way less useful than the targeted polling in battleground states, but not quite entirely useless.

For reference Clinton won the popular vote in 2016 by a 2.1% margin, and Biden won the popular vote in 2020 by a 4.4% margin. Current poll averages put Harris somewhere in between those two numbers, so if you believe them (or even if you don’t!) that’s a good indicator that we still need to do everything possible to help her win this thing. :grimacing:

That said, it’s definitely unhealthy to obsess over poll numbers and do frequent refreshing of the 538 site or whatever. Much more helpful to go out and do something useful.

I can’t believe there are still Americans who think RFK Jr. is a serious person.

Totally normal political headline in 2024

The article says

That seems totally fair to me. She doesn’t have any responsibility to answer for her husband’s bad behavior, especially since she’s not actively trying to get him elected right now and she is not supporting his endorsement of Trump.

Okay but of course, “politely declines to comment” doesn’t generate clicks like “dodges questions” does it? :weary:

Man, there’s a lot to unpack just in this one short statement:

  • He sure seemed to be talking about it.
  • If they were 15 or 20 years old does that mean he’s no longer pushing the “AI was used to fake it somehow” explanation?
  • Is a “false lie” something that’s not actually a lie?
