Once the whole world is under the boots of Putin and his clients, there will be no more war, unless you count against the civilians.
His âstopping never ending warsâ also involves handing Ukraine to Russia and letting Israel finish the destruction of Gaza.
Thatâs doomed to failure.
Which will hopefully puncture her balloon a bit in the process.
Encouraging at least. Expect the GQP to try to ban ride sharing to the polls, somehow.
IRS plans to increase audit rates of wealthy taxpayers by 50%
https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/02/politics/irs-audit-tax-rates-wealthy/index.html
This is great and all but right before an election? Chances are these rich folks werenât going to vote for him anyway but damn Joe, timing man!
Timing looks good to me.
Maybe read the article you linked?
The audit rate of taxpayers earning more than $10 million is expected to increase by 50%, going up from 11% in 2019 to 16.5% in 2026.
The IRS also plans to triple the audit rates of large corporations with assets over $250 million, as well as increase the audit rates of business partnerships with assets over $10 million by tenfold over the seven-year period.
One, thatâs not many voters, and two, a huge percentage of them are unlikely to vote for Biden anyway.
Exactly. Heck, Huey Longâone of the most corrupt elected officials in the history of American politicsâwas able to amass a tremendous amount of power through his populist âfuck those rich guysâ rhetoric back in the 1930s.
You can get a lot of campaign donations by playing nice with rich people, but itâs not necessarily the best way to win over actual voters.
Sure, literally. Yeah I get it but itâs a mantra that might sour many others in lesser brackets.
Yeah true, especially in the hands of corporate and further right media, if they frame it as âmore audits?!â instead of âaudits for the richies!â
But in some implausible future I might be rich and have to pay accountants to deal with such audits! The horror!
Strange timing. It seems like this measure wouldâve passed quickly even without the bad-look fast-tracking.
State Democrats fast-tracked a bill that changes the rules on how candidates can get on the ballot for the November election. Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the bill Friday morning amid protests from Republicans and even some members in his own party.
The bill ends a process called slating, which allows county party chairs to add someone to the ballot for a general election, even if they didnât run in the primary election. The bill took effect immediately with the Governorâs signature.
I still donât think it matters if itâs a bad look or a good one. The bad faith bears will always try to spin it as some kind of corruption.
In Oregon, where the state received a new congressional seat with the 2020 census, Dems negotiated in good faith with the state GOP only to have them no-show then claim they were excluded from the process. One of the maps under discussion was very favorable to the GOP, one was neutral, and one was gerrymandered heavily in favor of Dems. Even though the GOPers refused to participate and badmouthed the result before a decision was even made, Dems picked the more neutral map.
The state GOP still whines about it to this day, even though they doubled their number of seats.
While Kristi Noem tries to court Donald with her puppy-killing prowess, Tim Scott is trying to be the Mike Pence of 2024, completely feeble and spineless:
Not seeming to realize that Il Douche would never put a Black man in a position of power. Even if it is the VEEP-level. Same with the women vying for this position. In that world, women are basically for ogling, not for listening to. The lack of awareness of exactly what it is that they are supporting is just mind-boggling.
Nor a womanâŚ
