Elizabeth Warren silenced by 100% of GOP Senate for reading Coretta Scott King's words on Jeff Sessions

To me, rule 19 shouldn’t be applicable because they are not speaking about US Senator Jeff Sessions but about US Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions. Because otherwise, you’re right. You could guarantee confirmation of any nominee by appointed a sitting US Senator, and that’s clearly not the intent of the rule. And, although we are absolutely a nation of laws, the courts have made it clear many, many times over the years that intent matters.

Sessions*** being welcomed into the Order of the Raging Dicks* by a deflated ballsack**.

*I assume that is what is in the crest on that plaque
**McConnell
***not really
(also not really the “Order of the Raging Dicks”)

Another take that may miss the mark (I’ve heard Rule 19 ascribed primarily to a fistfight in 1902) but is certainly convincing on it’s own:

The tweetstorm goes on, and is well worth perusal.

I think the GOP got exactly the wrong idea of what Black History Month is about.

Also there’s a Twitter thread essay here that’s very interesting:

That’s not Sessions. That’s Mitch McConnell.

I didn’t say it wasn’t. But that other guy is not Jeff Sessions.

Godfuckingdammit. I forgot about that, too. I suppose we’re all in #alternativefacts world now. Yesterday I had a wacknut tea-party/bagger on twitter trying to tell me that Obama was the REAL racist. ???

As mentioned above, the GOP have decided that since they’re not winning the “culture wars” outright (because people don’t really give a damn about dudes/ladies being married to one another, among many other things), they’ll just legislate their Theocracy into being. And after all that stupid shit about Obama bringing Sharia Law to America…absolutely maddening.

I give them credit for trying. GOP had to bring in Pence to break the tie, and the Dems DID try to filibuster the nom, too. They get credit on their recent action from me…but we’ll see if they continue. I hope so, but do not expect it to be.

Of course Obama is the real racist, because he actually has the audacity to mention that racism still exists. Don’t you know that if you just ignore a problem, it ceases to actually be a problem?

At this point the GOP are basically Stalinists. They want permanent one party rule, value propaganda over fact, have an ideology that matters less than the dictates of Dear Leader, and know that their ideas cannot fail, only we can fail them. Also, some votes are more equal than other votes.

Happening all over the world, I’m afraid: if it isn’t neo-liberal governments like your last administration (and our current one up here), it’s authoritarian-leaning governments like your current administration or the UK’s (or Russia’s or…).

Maybe time for an Intercontinental Congress?

Oh - well, they’ll need a new name. The Shariapublicans?
