Elon Musk offers $1 billion to Wikipedia — if they make one simple change

Speaking as an Ex-Wikimedia employee: Wikimedia intentionally rejects large-dollar donations to avoid any one entity having too much control. They are funded almost entirely by small dollar donations (that is, all of us).

Let’s keep it that way.

Was just going to post this exact story.

This is the similar shit that Trump pulls by promising to pay for stuff and then never paying.

Christ, what an asshole.

I’ve also heard him described as the world’s oldest 12-year-old.

I just hope that none of those kids ends up as the next Newt Gingrich or Ted Cruz. Those bitter dweebs and other conservatives like them got started on their paths of destruction in HS debate clubs. Not that you’d be to blame, but it wouldn’t be a good feeling either.

No doubt he added “HUR HUR HUR” afterward, before farting loudly and deliberately. Musk and Trump are really two Biffs in a pod. I’d almost feel sorry for them if they weren’t capable of so much damage. Growing up in obscene wealth has made them both stunted manchildren with empty, meaningless lives devoid of beauty or introspection and a desperate, infantile need for constant attention. And they’re so stupid and oblivious they don’t even realize they’re continually broadcasting their insecurity to the world. At least Musk’s like-minded fans aren’t numerous enough to form a death cult around him.

Not that we need exhibit 32,971 of this trait of EM’s, but the fantasy he has about naming things X, on a dippy childish whim, looks like the same impulse to suggest that an org like Wikipedia can just “change their name”…. The paperwork, the legal wrangling, the vetting, the expense, etc etc. It’s a child’s request of adults and it’s difficult to know how to respond, when EM ought to have a fresh, recently-formed insight about it from his renamed trashfire site and its non-compliant signage. I know, I’m over-thinking it, but he continues to demonstrate that he’s a fucking child with the resources of a king and it’s sad, maddening and tiresome. I would honestly LOVE for Wikipedia to get a billion of EM’s dollars, but I’m dubious that he even has that $ anywhere liquid (remember all his protestations about buying Twitter?), and all his excuses about a slapfight with Suckaturd tell us he’s a twat that will always come up with reasons not to pay out. His MOST RECENT actions tell us he’s a trash media trolley.

No it’s not.

In fact, it’s super easy.

Tweets are only 280 characters long! “You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know …”

I’d like to claim credit, but I can’t reallly. It occurred to me several weeks ago, but I saw someone else post it before I had a chance to. I’m happy to help spread it through the world, though!
