Elon Musk strikes deal to buy Twitter

I wouldn’t be surprised if Musk turns Twitter into the foundation for a new (possibly crypto related) payment system like Alibaba’s Alipay. The userbase is there, and Musk has got that PayPal experience too…

I can’t even run a MUD server for giggles and to share with other folks that love MUDs thanks to the fine print.

That headline about Donald Trump not going back to twitter even if he’s unbanned is missing the unspoken part, which Elon will most definitely consider if he’s running twitter because Trump is good for Twitter’s engagement numbers:

People who use a service that gain that service benefits are PAID for their work. Trump’s not coming back unless he’s paid to do it.

$44 billion is a lot to pay to find out Jeff spends all his time whining that people think his rocket looks like a dildo.

Maple, ash, pine, oak…looks familiar, maybe an aspen?..elm

The last one isn’t an elm leaf, which have teeth and are mismatched at the bottom. That said, I think there’s a few different things it could be, making this a little unfair. Ditto the conifer…I think a pine would have longer needles in bundles, but I can’t see the detail on them.

I didn’t recognize the crocodile logo either.

Fair enough - I hedged about the elm, thinking that the leaves just weren’t drawn with enough detail to show the teeth, but that’s kind of a cheat.

I also cheated on the ash, since I couldn’t remember whether ash or hickory had the opposing leaves.

You could do this whole chart with just varieties of pine, so whatevs, close enough.

ETA: I also couldn’t name the crocodile, so I don’t feel too bad about missing a tree

Ha ha! Man is smart enough to make all our logos in a scalable format! Checkmate, nature!

I don’t know if it’s unlikely, but it might be better to wait to see what actually transpires before taking any actions (like deleting accounts, etc.).

Matrix/Element has end-to-end encryption for private and group messages. It’s also decentralized.

Yes. Mentioned that in another comment, but used the old name Riot. I keep forgetting about the name change even though I have the app installed on my desktop…

How does that old biblical parable go again, “give a man a billionaire and he’ll eat for a day; teach a man to dismantle global capitalistic hegemony and he’ll eat for a lifetime?”

I like it but it will need an extended bumper to get it all on there.

In my experience (n=1), deactivating a social media account is always a good call, regardless of the reason.
