And place all of those keys in a loose ceiling tile in such a way that, at the first hint of someone yelling, they would all cascade out of the ceiling.

i’d almost guarantee she’s getting death threats from both sides.

and, if she signs now without some public blessing from trump or the republican establishment, she’ll be forever the one who sold trump out, who’s responsible for his loss, etc.

not an enviable position given who his supporters are.

( of course, if she’d signed the paperwork right off the bat… it never would have become a thing. so there’s that. )

It sucks. But she should still sign the fucking paper work. This is really kafkaesque here, that one unaccountable bureaucrat can nearly bring down fucking society. How many more people are going to fucking die because of the stupid foot dragging to appease one narcissistic asshole?

She should not be getting death threats from ANYONE, but JFC, grow the fuck up and do your job lady!!!

Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Elections Commission has received a partial recount petition and a wire transfer from the Trump campaign for $3 million.

“The request is for all of Milwaukee and Dane Counties. No other counties or jurisdictions were requested,” said Meagan Wolfe, Wisconsin’s chief election official. “It was filed in-person in our office today at 10:58 a.m. and appears, upon facial review, to meet all of the requirements in pairing with the payment that was received late yesterday.”

A partial recount? Obviously Trump doesn’t want to pay to recount the red areas, but that sounds crocked.

Not your quote, from the article, but what does that mean?

I know y’all don’t want any more bad news but here’s some:

An “immediate withdrawal” is bad because it leaves a power vacuum, a gradual withdrawal is bad because the last few troops can’t defend themselves, it’s always the wrong time and the wrong way

When Reagan got out of Lebanon he didn’t ask anybody’s opinion first, he just did it—goodbye, so long, sorry, too bad—once it was over nobody from either party wanted to send the troops back

If withdrawing US forces, after nearly 20 years there, will cause the immediate collapse of the “good” guys and the return of the “bad guys” you went in there to take out of government it’s almost like, and bear with me spitballing here, killing all those people and spending those astronomical sums of money, was a complete fucking waste of life.

Just me?

Nah - it’s not always the wrong time or way to do something. It’s sometimes the wrong time or way to do something. And it’s pretty clear that Trump is doing this to cause as many problems as possible for the next administration as doesn’t care if he puts lives at risk. He could have easily started doing this 3 years, 2 years, 1 year or 6 months ago.

isn’t that a sunk cost fallacy? at a certain point, shouldn’t you say enough is enough and we don’t need to waste more lives?

i think in this case, with a theoretical peace agreement on the table, leaving before any of its commitments are met, just as the adminstration here is changing, is inarguably a bad idea.

i just don’t think we should justify future lives with past lives. there needs to be something more

[ edit: and it seems “ironic” - ie. totally on point - that trump and all of the republicans criticized obama for announcing a troop drawdown before. saying announcing troop plans was a terrible idea. sigh ]

To victory?? But you’ve already said many times that you won. That you’re the victor.

I anticipate this much as I would root canal, but with less hope of an outcome worth the pain.

This supposed news conference piques my interest, because I have to wonder why the GOP is projecting so much confidence in being able to win the election. It’s either because they have a massive dirty trick planned, or because they are setting up their narrative for slinking away in defeat without claiming defeat.

I hope it’s the latter. In my mind, this news conference will tell us which one it is.

Maybe.

I think it’s also possible that Trump thinks that the more often and loudly he claims he won, the more his griftable followers will believe that the election was stolen from him.

Which is unfortunately probably true.
