๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿคก๐Ÿคก Even More Trumpian Events ๐Ÿคก๐Ÿคก๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ (Part 1)

How timely. My daughter tried two different times today to take a package to the local USPS, and I (knowing how bad that location is, and having access to a car) went to one further away to mail some work-related letters: the lines were well out the door, with only one person working behind the counter in each of the two locations. The one I went to, they usually have 5 or 6 people working the counter at any given time.

The Republicans went all-in for white supremacy with the Southern Strategy, but that wasnโ€™t exactly reversing their previous position. Theyโ€™d been at best neutral since the Compromise of 1877, which ushered in almost a century of consensus between the parties against civil rights for Blacks.

Big Tech backs colleges in war against Trumpโ€™s ban on foreign students taking web-only classes mid-pandemic

Big Tech has thrown its support behind a legal challenge to a Trump administration rule that will force foreign students to leave the US if their university courses are online-only amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Facebook, Google, and Microsoft have joined [PDF] a wide range of other large tech companies, including Adobe, Dropbox, GitHub, Linkedin, Paypal, Spotify, Salesforce, and Twitter, in backing a lawsuit brought by Harvard and MIT against the Department of Homeland Security.

Itโ€™s handbags at dawn: America to hit France with 25% tariffs on luxuries over digital tax on US tech titans

America is moving ahead with massive 25 per cent tariffs on French products in retaliation for the Euro nation approving a new digital tax aimed squarely at tech giants like Google and Facebook.

In a notice [PDF] put out by the US Trade Representative this month, the Trump administration said it will add the taxes to 21 categories of three types of product: cosmetics, soap, and handbags. Which may seem ridiculous but their value is collectively over $1bn in trade, apparently.

Good luck on that. If Google is getting big money from French advertisers to promote to French users, itโ€™s not happening in a nowhere called cyberspace, nor on some off-shore tax haven.

โ€œImmigration: Trump administration drops plan to reject student visas if classes are online-only - CNNPoliticsโ€

Is this good news? I certainly hope so.

If thus runs true to form for Trump and 2020 in general, theyโ€™re only dropping their plan so they can replace it with something worse. If I had to guess, theyโ€™ll arrest the students at the airport and send them to Cuba so they can do their distance learning from Guantanamo.

She totally knew that. Kellyanne Conway ran into the same mess when she tweeted out support for Ivankaโ€™s apparel line shortly after Trumpโ€™s inauguration.

I wish these violations included some hefty fines.
