Explosion in Nashville, Tennessee

Even if the tank is slightly larger, the explosion you are thinking of would be a BLEVE event, which are preceded by a fire large enough and long enough to cause the LPG to boil. This didnt happen. LPG tanks don’t just explode even if they’re leaking.

Evidence so far from multiple witnesses strongly suggests the sound came from the RV.

This sound of gunshots seems to have been what woke people and got them to listen to the countdown.

Because people fled. Give it time, I’m sure someone grabbed audio on their phone. It’s only been a day so I expect we will see these recordings later.

Again, witnesses say otherwise.

I am surprised no one has made the Die Hard connection. Criminals stage a diversionary crime on Christmas Eve, the real purpose being to cause first responders to follow standard procedure which gives them an opening to commit the real crime…

May have been too subtle

$640M ought to be enough for anyone.

Bwah! Well, it was Christmas morning after (third shift) work and let’s just say I was already into the relaxation juice. The subtlety wasn’t the problem, this audience member was just a bit dim

I was already all of that before 5G. Do I get Marvel style super powers or something else cool?

And they are designed not to catastrophically fail. If it was a propane tank that exploded, the simplest logical conclusion would be this was done on purpose.

It’s probably optimistic to expect a valid person of interest to survive apprehension or custody.

Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were both apprehended alive, got fair trials, and then McVeigh was executed. If the bomber is white, he’ll live and be sent to trial.

Former fed agent on my teevee says that reading the tea leaves on what’s been announced so far leads him to believe it was a suicide bomber- the whole “no current danger to the public bit.”

I’m curious; did he address why a suicide bomber might be concerned about loss of life? If this had been a target of cultural significance I can imagine a suicide bomber seeing that as a worthy target while wanting to spare life, but no such motive appears here.
EDIT: because I forgot to quote

Did he have a different motivation than killing others? The ATT building was right there. Anti tech person - ticked off customer- or just pissed off that there’s no damn time off with cell phones anymore?

I imagine we’ll have something definitive in a day or so. They have to finish processing the crime scene and backgrounding the suspect etc.

oh indeed, there’s no way into the mind of someone who would do something like this.

Van owner does seem to fit the “lets go out with a bang” demographic.

edit: I just wish he had thought through his recorded message. You don’t have to say “If you an hear this” when only the people who hear your message can hear it.
