Aaaand she doubled down on her ignorance:

Perhaps they meant gendered pronouns? Well they got that wrong too:

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which HE shall be chosen.

Oh well.

I think that you cancel out Spicer and more besides. I look forward to learning from your comments.

That’s a word used by bigots perpetually; self hating, puppet, or ‘token’ is probably a better choice.

Aw.

Being a data geek, I had to check. Including the Preamble and all Amendments, here are all the 148 personal pronouns that can be found in the U.S. Constitution (none of which are feminine pronouns, as to be sadly expected):

Pronoun Count
their 29
he 28
they 20
his 18
who 16
them 15
whom 5
him 4
our 3
I 2
themselves 2
we 2
himself 1
ourselves 1
whomever 1
whose 1
148

(updated to include interrogative / relative pronouns such as who, whose, etc.)

Oh, I forgot to include interrogatives / relatives! One sec… Fixed it.

I hate it that you and I live in a world where you get impactfully judged by the bad behaviour of other people with similar skin tone, and I do not.

I know you don’t need that explained. Just saying it to remind the rest of us, me included. It’s so fucked up.

Nice! Obligatory Entrapta:

Very tiresome conversation with people who’ll say things like “well they used male pronouns to indicate ‘any individual’”. Yes, that’s the issue.

That’s what I was taught in school. “They” is slotting in very nicely instead whenever it comes up now.

Gender neutral he is a legal fiction to avoid having to spend lots of money rewriting centuries of law, not an excuse to continue using it today.

As you say, gender neutral they works even better today.
