Florida homes invaded by scurrying onslaught of land crabs

These crabs may be a lot of work for not much good eatin’ but dang I’d be grateful if someone would save and send me the shells after they are all done with the eatin’ part.

Expensive!

I use it periodically for lawn and garden and compost pile. Crab shell meal is a reliable performer for me and does help with my issues of tilth in heavy clay, where I am lucky to have any soil depth at all.

Ok, after the gumbo, just rinse off the uneaten stuff and toss it in the compost pile…

(Also, a little bit of me rages inside every time I see “anyways”, and another bit raged when I heard him say “they are everywheres”.)

I am disappoint.
There just has to be some punny Dr. Who reference here.
Right?

I wonder how a house cat would fare against crabs.
Seems like it would just be a very long stalemate.

Metaphor for life. That reminds me, I gotta go fire up the new smoker…

Two strong Petaluma kittehs managed to subdue one big Tomales Bay crab after an hour. Too bad I didn’t have a vidcam then.

Is it rolling a joint?

I recall watching this on TV when just a young tike. The crabs were as large as automobiles. So – yes – it was rolling a joint.

I can’t help but think that scene was inspired by the ‘crab attack/crab boil’ scene in Mysterious Island (1961):

I go crabbing there off my Kayak! There are two sink holes on the west side directly west of Hog Island that are deeper and supposedly where the crabs like to hide from the sun. I bagged 6 red rock last time I was out there before the Dungeness season ended.

LOL, I feel like film directors will think about creating an evil crab after seeing this news.

My tabby hates spiders. Crabs look similar, so I would probably be summoned to get rid of them. :scream_cat:

“You’re a bit thick, really, aren’t you?”
That would not get past the regulator today: Mocking of diminished mental capacity.

I remember the other one where the guy just says “Dime bah?” in a moronic voice. that became shorthand for thicko in my (all-boys) school.

Wouldn’t it be better to make the reference yourself rather than complain about it?

It’s rare to see an outbreak in crabs this bad in Florida outside of Mar A Lago.
