Fox & Friends host explains the Matrix, poorly

You know what, for some reason I had never put it together that Lilly Wachowski answered to this tweet in her role as creator of the concept. The first time I saw it I just thought “Right on! Good response!”. The whole red pill thing has gone on as a weirdo MRA thing for so long now that I didn’t even connect it to The Matrix anymore.

At a guess it’s another one of his attempts to restart Tesla no matter the state of health in the local community. So pretty much, ‘there isn’t a pandemic - get back to work in my factories.’

Yeah, the only other time I see that emoji is in (UK) Labour party contexts (or used by edgy Tory trolls)

Yeah…or he was looking for an emoji that’s red.

I did like a recent comment I saw:

“Elon Musk is what you get if you order Tony Stark from Wish.”

There’s a much better and less ambiguous option for that: :red_circle::pill:

Considering that, and the context (Twitter in 2020, where :rose: is widely used as a symbol of socialism), I read Elon’s tweet as a joke that “taking the red pill” should refer to embracing socialism, not reactionism. Or rather, I read it that way until I noticed who the author was, then I was just confused.

I’ll leave it to the Wachowskis to determine the meaning of their work.

It has been a symbol of socialism (specifically Democratic Socialism and early Social Democracy) for at least 150 years

As for musk, he has repeatedly shown that he does not understand what socialism and anarchism is. With that level of unawareness I’m seriously thinking that someone else does all the hard work and he only takes the credit and money.

Wait, that’s called capitalism. Now I’m certain.

I think it was '84 or 86 when US news organizations made the switch in color, covering the nationL election. Before that time, democrats were portrayed as the “hot” color, and republicans the “cool” one.

They used to switch every election cycle, so as to not tag either with “red” which was always “communist”

With the 2000 election, the “red state” and “blue state” idea got solidified and stuck with the Republicans at “red”.

And 20 years later, Republicans love the Russians. Correlation? Causation? who knows.

Please. No more of Musk’s musings and rants. They are a bore.

It’s a bit of a stretch to call Putin’s Russia communist, even by the poor standard that Marxism-Leninism set.

I don’t think “means” means what you think it means.

I suppose his ludicrous wealth will help him avoid any responsibility for that. I’d say it’s too bad for the baby, but he or she (I don’t care enough to take the ten seconds it takes to find out. Please don’t enlighten me.) is also going to be a ludicrously wealthy asshole also, so fuck him or her too.

Peter Kropotkin also started life as a ludicrously wealthy individual, but chose to reject that life. I’m not going to condemn a baby for the sins of their father.

Some of the chuds claim the Wachowskis didn’t create it

They say it goes back to, like, Total Recall, maybe

which breaks my brain, because that means they think that stealing their precious meme from famously and unambiguously anti-fascist creators like Philip K. Dick and Paul Verhoeven is somehow different from, and better than, stealing it from the Wachowski sisters
