I saw it in a theater not too long ago… the movie was just as campy fun as I remember… but for some reason the AC was not working well in the theater and it was very warm…

I remember seeing the film The Abyss in the theater, and the overdone air conditioning was perfect for the deep sea setting. You could practically feel the drips of cold seawater.

Yes. The economic theory “Neoliberalism” is essentially the failed version of capitalism that brought us the Great Depression. It serves corporate power and extreme wealth. Everybody else is collateral damage.
If you think of Moloch as a metaphor for the inhuman machine of industry (as Fritz Lang and Allan Ginsberg did) then it’s not a terrible inaccuracy, maybe. Democratic leadership in the US and abroad have been more effective implementers of neoliberal policy in the modern era. I also think both leadership and rank-and-file Dems still believe economic liberalism is an inherent good whereas rank-and-file Conservatives have become skeptical (Brexit). For example, Democrats were enamored with the idea of letting a billionaire who once faced antitrust suits from two different governments re-design our public education system. Thinking “their” oligarchs (like Gates, Jobs, Musk etc.) are “good rich guys” is a blind spot for Democrats.
(But that’s probably not what he meant!)
