Fuck Elon Musk (Part 1)

This is serious discrimination on top of all his other abuse against his workers. I hope this goes to a jury trial like the plaintiffs want.

So who are Musk’s Jacob Marley and Ghosts of Christmas?

Ghost of Christmas Present would seem to be Twitter.

Not mentioned in the headline (but is covered by that article) are the people with disabilities. The drive to return to the way things were always done by removing options for remote work is a problem throughout the country. That second class action complaint says there were assurances for months to the contrary.

In order to allay employees’ concerns and try to prevent them from leaving Twitter to work at other companies, Twitter made various promises to employees. One of the promises was that employees would be able to continue working remotely, for at least a year after Musk’s acquisition of the company. This promise was made repeatedly to employees by managers, the CEO, and other staff. However, following the purchase of the company by Elon Musk in late October 2022, Twitter openly reneged on this promise.

Which sounds like Alex Spiro in that AskAManager update, assuring people to trust Elon even though he hadn’t actually read Elon’s email.

However, US regulators are yet to give permission for the Starship rocket from Elon Musk’s SpaceX company that the crew is supposed to travel on.

The ship has not even been approved for an orbital journey around the Earth and has been grounded for the past 18 months in Texas, after it completed a test launch in May 2021.

The class action letter from improperly laid off staff points out that it’s worse for Musk if each and every case goes individually to binding arbitration

Since companies have been abusing binding arbitration, I’m loving the backlash.

I think the letter you’re referring to was about a suit filed in Washington. These class-action complaints for discrimination filed in California include language that the affected employees are worried Elon’s Twitter will try to get them to release the company and also not tell them about the outcome of a suit filed about the WARN Act violations (which was also filed by Shannon Liss-Riordan).

Plaintiffs are concerned that, absent court intervention, as part of that severance package, Twitter will seek releases from employees without informing them of their rights, including their right to challenge Twitter’s actions as discriminatory, or the pendency of this case. Plaintiffs therefore seek immediate relief to ensure that Twitter does not violate the law and then seek to obtain releases from the many employees who do not have notice of their rights or the pendency of the claims brought here on their behalf.

Here’s a page on the status of that one; it doesn’t look like there will be any updates until February.

Black Lives Matter & trans people’s marginalization Elon.

At this point it might save time to just discuss what content on Twitter isn’t concerning.

Since taking over, the new Chief Twit has reached out to the council “zero times,” Abdul Rahman says, despite its efforts to raise concerns about aspects of Twitter’s new direction (and despite the fact that it’s the only Twitter consultant group of its kind).

It’s really not a good sign when the interviewer starts by taking Elon’s “I dunno” ramble seriously. But the interview subject’s logic is also filled with dreck. Was he frozen during the Trump administration and hasn’t caught up, yet?

It takes someone special to look at twitter and say the reasons it’s dangerous are that it portrayed the Russians invading Ukraine as bad guys and kicked off president Trump.
