Is Elon Musk a Buddha-bro? No surprise if he was. After all, a big chunk of American Buddhism lines up perfectly with Musk’s reactionary centrism, performative transcendence, bog-standard conspiracism, and culture war shitposting.
Another arbitrary change made without thinking things through. Twitter already showed the number of impressions to the account which posted a tweet. Now it’s going to be public-facing “just like video view count.”
People are also complaining about the change’s effect on the UI.
Insider accounts of today’s phone conference with Tesla investors sound like the event went just as disastrously as everything else Musk has touched lately.
oh my gosh. i’m so glad they made that change. /s now i, and presumably tens of thousands of other users, can create new accounts and finally use twitter like it’s supposed to be used. it’s genius
seriously. why are they even bothering with tiny things like this and the stock ticker? none of that changes twitter or makes it more useful. none of it’s going to make them more money either
maybe these are the very best of his ideas?
FTFA:
Another insane comment Elon made in the Twitter space today: he claims our economy is experiencing DEFLATION. I mean… is he on drugs???
Yes, yes he is.
ETA: Ack. That was supposed to be a reply to @Brainspore above
A lifetime Musk super-fan is currently confronting Elon for his remarks about transgender children – confronting him for his horrific attack on lgbtq+ people $tsla. Tells him she sold her model 3.
Elon is not happy.
I wouldn’t want to be the new owner if Musk bricks it through petty vindictiveness.
The bullet points go on to cover just about every content moderation topic you can think of.
The post to TwitterIsGoingGreat which pointed to this thread also noted Twitter fired “their head of real estate for the EMEA region.”
The Onion wasn’t kidding about making an advent calendar to space out the firings.
My guess: Someone told him about stagflation recently and all he remembered was: “not inflation, the other one.”
https://electrek.co/2022/12/21/tesla-tsla-increases-discount-cars/
Ministry of Doublespeak says it’s not a discount.
Elon Musk famously said that Tesla doesn’t do discounts. However, the automaker is calling this a price adjustment.
They must be desperate to make the 2022 numbers. The earnings call in January is going to be interesting.
Hopefully not true.
Right wingers don’t kill themselves?
If anything, it was removed to target trans people.
I suppose he could have said “I vow to treat her with the same respect I would accord my own child” but in this case it would amount to the same thing.
After publication of this story, Twitter head of trust and safety Ella Irwin told Reuters in an email that “we have been fixing and revamping our prompts. They were just temporarily removed while we do that.”
Sure, sure. Just like blocking SMS from entire telecom companies wasn’t intentional.
The Guardian’s article was much the same as Reuters’, but noted that:
Just as Musk bought the company, the feature was expanded to show information related to natural disaster searches in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Those shifty meteorology and geology services might have been promoted without paying. Clearly, that’s “spam” or “ban evasion” or whatever combination of words doesn’t bring up Elon’s debt.
#ThereIsHelp was returned to availability, but I did see a comment that attempted to test the response to the word “suicide” and was unsuccessful. Oh, and Elon claimed “Twitter doesn’t prevent suicide.” (Internet Archive, because Jane Manchun Wong’s account is either gone or suspended now… so is wongmjane.com)
It was only a matter of time before Elon began “saving money” on data centers.
Faiz Siddiqui wrote about, among other things, how Elon and Ella Irwin gave access to Bari Weiss despite internal objections that would violate a 2011 FTC consent decree.
Musk’s idea of careful restructuring is to unplug a rack of servers, and if nothing obvious fails, then they weren’t needed.
