I expect to see a whole lot more unhinged ranting when it drops below 100. I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t been more vocal about it already.
“The guy who invented email” (not!) wants to be the boss of Twitter.
Those two deserve each other.

There would not be enough popcorn in the world if that happened.
A miscreant this Christmas weekend said they are willing to sell public and private info on more than 400 million Twitter accounts.
This data is said to include info that anyone can find out – follower counts, account creation date, etc – as well as private details, such as email addresses and phone numbers of tweeters.
The records were apparently scraped in 2021 via a security flaw fixed earlier this year in a backend API that the Twitter Android app used.

Possibly coincidentally, notorious British blowhard Piers Morgan has had his Twitter account cracked by a group calling themselves The Chuckling Squad.
They posted a stream of obscene tweets including sexual references to the late Queen and others, and if they have access to his direct massages, this could get ugly for the newspaper editor-turned-whatever-the-fsck-he’s-supposed-to-be-now. His account is currently blank (insert joke here).
best typo
A YouTube channel about city planning, Not Just Bikes, has a Mastodon instance, to which posts were made regarding the use of Full-Self Driving in Toronto. Oneboxes aren’t working with it, and it seemed a bit busy, so I’ll quote. The first post contained:
I tried the “Full Self-Driving (Beta)” on a Model Y in Toronto. It was terrifying.
I turned off “aggressive” and “assertive” modes and “drive 20% higher than speed limit” (why are these even options?)
It tried to drive in the bike lane to avoid traffic multiple times, it got totally confused by angled parking, it had to do an emergency stop to avoid hitting a pedestrian when turning right, plus dozens of other issues.
At my destination it rammed right into a snowbank. Why is this legal?!
The second post confirmed and lamented:
People thought I was joking, but no, Tesla really does have an option in its “Full Self-Drive (Beta)” to go faster than the speed limit. It was set to 20% over when I got in.
Exceeding the speed limit is so normalized in the US & Canada that this is a standard feature.
I understand, because the Toronto police don’t really enforce speed limits anymore; they say they’re stretched too thin. So nobody drives the speed limit.
The police DO have time to camp out at stop signs to catch cyclists.
In an image, the 20% is under “Offset” which appears to be adjustable up or down.
I just looked up results on a major “carsharing” service, and a ton of Tesla owners in my area are making their cars available to rent for about $70 or $80 a day, often less. Ordinary minivans can cost a lot more than that on the same service, so it seems that supply is outstripping demand.
I also wonder if the folks who rent out their cars tend to be financially overextended and are looking to get extra cash to afford their car payments.
prohibits Tesla and any other automaker from advertising Level 2 driver assist systems as full self-driving systems.
Not that any other car maker is stupid enough to do that
Tate has gained notoriety online for misogynistic comments about women, including suggesting they “bear some responsibility” if they are assaulted.
This comment led to him being banned from Twitter before he was recently reinstated by the social media firm’s new owner Elon Musk.
Tate has denied he holds misogynistic views and accused his critics of “twisting facts”.
Videos of and about Tate, often posted and re-shared by others, have become popular on both YouTube and TikTok, with more than 13 billion views on TikTok alone.
In August, YouTube permanently banned Tate for breaching its rules on hate speech.
The Google-owned video platform said channels associated with Tate had been removed for breaching its terms of service – a decision that followed similar moves by Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
TikTok previously said it had been removing videos and accounts linked to Tate and would continue to do so.
Several campaign groups have criticised Tate for his views and warned he was a danger to young men and boys who see his content online, urging the various platforms on which he is active to remove him.
John Barnett, a former product manager at Twitter, was fired in November, according to a lawsuit filed by Barnett over claims Twitter violated a restricted stock agreement that he received when the company acquired his startup Chroma Labs, per Bloomberg.
Twitter sent an email with Barnett’s termination notice to his wife’s address, the lawyers said in the lawsuit, Bloomberg reported. But Barnett’s wife didn’t work at Twitter, the lawyers said, per the report.
That sounds expensive.
eta: No price discussed, but that stock sweetener wasn’t just a Christmas bonus.
i dunno… this one is also pretty good:
unless it isn’t…
All the other billionaires are making fun of him at Davos.
That’s okay, he’s not going. Libertarian billionaires think that we should all be good serfs, while they use their property anyway they want to, and Davos is heresy.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were behind the current “Protocols of the Elders of WEF” garbage popular on the right. (Not that WEF are the good guys.)
Da fuq he think it means?
Since the full quote was, “I’m not cis, you are,” I think that translates to…
I checked ElonJet, and there have been four flights today which have been 16 minutes or less, one of which was right back where the plane started.
