Fuck Elon Musk (Part 2)

And even if they can’t actually they can still have a lot of fun messing with a lot of people’s heads?

Plausible. Research on this goes back to the 1930ies and various types of passive radar systems exist. The new hotness is using emissions from communications satellites in low orbits. Megaconstellations offer new possibilities and seem ideal for this sort of thing. What they have right now seems to be basically proof of concept with little practical usability, yet.

It is the first-ever fully electric, battery-powered train

Why the hell would you need a battery powered train?? Just run electrical lines by your dedicated rail lines ya fookin’ knob.

Well it’s heavier and gets worse mileage, progress! /s

He’s not using a boring hyperloop?

Inconceivable!

Plus it’s got a gigantic chemical energy storage device that could potentially explode!

Honestly a train that has 120 seats, a maximum theoretical capaicty of 500, and goes 20 miles each way doesn’t exactly sound like a miracle of engineering. Better than the bus, I guess.

Diesel-electric trains are still a thing in situations where electrical lines would be impractical, and I imagine it would make sense to have a battery-powered train replace them. Somehow I doubt shuttling people around a manufacturing site in Berlin is one of those situations, but this way Tesla gets to be first before anyone comes up with a not-stupid version.

I got one for Christmas ~50 years ago, it was rather nice.

Well, yes.

Of course.

The main line is electrified but the short spur to the Tesla factory station is not. Tesla were not involved in designing or building the trains, and they didn’t even get to be the first to have them.

Yeah, it’s a type of train built by Siemens I have ridden countless times (in the overhead electrical version). You can find them in use all over Germany on regional and local lines and probably in most other European countries as well. This is the equivalent of buying leasing a fleet of Nissan Leafs for the use of Tesla employees and saying they have developed a new Gigafleet of Tesla vehicles.

From the article:

You see, this is actually a Siemens Mireo Plus B train. These trains have been around for a few years now and run on several other tracks in Germany. It uses lithium-titanium-oxide batteries from Japanese producer Toshiba and can travel up to 120 km (74 miles) on battery power alone. The train is then operated by Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn (NEB), a private regional railway company in Berlin and Brandenburg, and has a similar white, yellow, and black paint scheme to others operated by it. The main distinguishing feature of Tesla’s one is the Giga Train text running down the sides.

German publication SWR reports that Tesla does not own the train. Instead, it is owned by the German state of Baden-WĂźrttemberg and is actually being leased to the car manufacturer.

One of the inauthentic videos, which Microsoft said had been viewed millions of times, claimed to show Harris supporters attacking an attendee of a Donald Trump rally. Another video falsely claimed that Harris paralyzed a young girl in a 2011 hit-and-run accident. Russian operatives promoted the latter story through a website pretending to be a local San Francisco media outlet, Microsoft researchers said.

Both videos were still accessible on X as of Tuesday afternoon, with one post of the video garnering 1.5 million views on its own. CNN has requested comment from the social media platform.

The report is the latest evidence that Kremlin-linked trollies and digital operatives are ramping up their efforts to denigrate Harris’s campaign just weeks before the presidential election. US intelligence agencies warned in July that Russia planned to “covertly use social media” to try to sway public opinion and undermine support for Ukraine in swing states.

Given all the problems there, why the hell are they even considered for something expedited?

But among the bad rhymes there is an argument – religion left people unhappy, so maybe religion’s good for making people happy. So, you know, it’s also stupid and incoherent.

What happened to trembling at the non-existant feet of Roko’s basilisk, Musk? You can’t have realized you’re so insufferable that any intelligence would want to smack you around regardless, that would take an iota of self awareness.
