Fuck Elon Musk (Part 2)

So, no severance package for Yaccarino?

Was it the state government?

Was it the federal government?

Was it the green-energy titans or the folks at some company, bank or non-profit I had held up to scrutiny?

Was it someone I pissed off in law enforcement?

Was it the DEI and CRT gurus angered by my persistent opposition?

Was it the universities which I routinely fry?

Someone sounds surprised that the leopards ate his face.

Whittemore of Hillsboro said she’s experienced phantom braking as many as 20 times over the past three years — typically on long road trips while using Autopilot

ummm… is it just me, or after the first or second time of hearing that my car might unexpectedly stop in the middle of the highway, i would never use that “feature” again. let alone, it happening to me personally 20 times(!)

… can it even be turned off

apparently it depends on the model of your car whether there’s a “dumb” ( ie safer ) cruise control.

but i don’t think you’re forced to turn cruise control on

Remember how Toyota’s unintended acceleration problems resulted in three separate recalls, congressional hearings, and production line shutdowns over four years? I don’t think the initial recalls for the floor mats even had any acceleration events attributed – it was just a recognized risk that NHTSA demanded Toyota correct.

“Traffic-Aware Cruise Control may react to vehicles or objects that either do not exist, or are not in your lane of travel, causing Model 3 to slow down unnecessarily or inappropriately,” the manual said.

Oh, well, that makes everything OK. Ford should have just written “Be aware that vehicle may occasionally explode” in the Pinto’s manual and they would have been in the clear.

Phantom braking has been a persistent issue for Tesla vehicles. In February 2022, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched an investigation into “Unexpected Brake Activation” in 2021 and 2022 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. At the time, NHTSA had received 354 complaints about the issue. Three months later, the number of complaints about phantom braking had jumped to 758.

KGW’s analysis of more recent data found the number of complaints to NHTSA has significantly grown. Through September, there were an additional 815 reports of unexpected braking in those same years and models of Tesla vehicles.

Where is NHTSA? Still “collecting data”? Toyota recalled its accelerator pedals (the second recall) after three incidents.

Yeah, but Toyota is run by adults, not a 9-year old who got three wishes and who spent them on “make me the richest person in the world”, “make me an adult” and “make everyone in the world listen to what I have to say, whether they want to or not” while only now slowly realising that maybe this monkey’s paw isn’t quite what he thought

It never ceases to amaze me how insecure this man is. If this had been most any other CEO “The President of the United States is getting lots of engagement on our platform” would be seen as a major win for a social media company.

Biden is an unpopular President but Musk is an unpopular and widely disliked man.

These are two different things. Biden still won a national popularity contest.
