In our ongoing PFAS debacle in Maine, (crib notes version, theyāre found in sewage sludge, which is often combined with other stuff and spread on agricultural fields as fertilizer, and have been linked to cancer, not just in scientific papers but for our organic farmers), last year we passed state laws limiting the use of that sludge (based on testing) on fields.
Which, thatās good.
But now, our wastewater treatment plants are hitting crisis mode because they have no place to put the sludge that can no longer be spread on fields. So theyāre paying to truck it up to New Brunswick (?!) or, if they canāt find transport or canāt afford it on the municipal budget, holding it on site. But a bunch of them are within a week or so of being out of room.
People are working on how to best remove the PFAS, but for right now, itās just a big mess.
A deal like that has the Irving name written all over it. Nothing but the best for their home turf.
Thatās too bad. I also wonder what other areas do, though. Iāve been following the local story, but this must be something dealt with in municipalities across the US, so I imagine we maybe set our testing limits lower than others, based on our extensive testing and research, and thatās where our issue comes from? Not sure.
Unfortunately, when the usual sites stop accepting toxic waste, it tends to wind up being sent elsewhere. It moves by truck, rail, or ship to places where the risk is minimized or ignored until it becomes a health hazard for the folks who process or live near the secondary site. Unless you want to ruin a good mood, donāt look up the amount of untreated waste that falls off ships on a daily basis. Weāre in a cycle with industries that spend decades focused on how to create things, while putting very little thought into environmental impact.
And again. This time he got it bumped two months out, to April.
As a reminder, this POS raped a woman who was drunk and vomiting while she was being raped.
From way way above:
Just so this doesnāt drop off the radar, in January Samuel Elliott raped a drunk young girl while she was vomiting. Nine months later, there has yet to be any justice. Over the past few months, while the young woman continues to deal with her trauma, waiting to have to relive it when she testifies, Mr. Elliott has had :

At this rate, itās not even clear when a judge will have the chance to do that.
I prolly ought to just start a topic about this, since it seems like itās going to go on a while.
I keep the seat belt on for the entire flight. Loosely.
Not sure where else to put this, but wanted to share itā¦
Also an uplifting story, in its own way.
I heard that on the news this morning. Sounded scary. The flight path in the southern part of the states is awful (lots of turbulence) in the late winter/early spring.
I actually keep it tight. I think itās because Iāve seen too many Airport movies.
Thatās not good for my bladder!
This sucks. The UPās 126 year-old little Finnish college is shutting down. I had hoped they would be able to last forever just on sales from FU apparel.
More posts by The Frogman about his dadā¦
A double dose in this story. Once because of the crime, and another because of the way the news outlet bends over backwards to avoid saying that this was rape.
Came here to post this. And write the same. It was rape. Rape rape rape. Ffs. Ignoring that when itās an older woman and a younger boy fscking enables that crap.
