Sickening, but not surprising based on how many assisted living chains make it clear they are really for-profit. The pandemic caused a lot of financial problems for that industry due to loss of residents and staff. This horrible situation highlights one of many differences between these facilities and nursing homes. We would be much better off if pols focused on improving healthcare, childcare, and eldercare - supporting alternatives like group homes and inter-generational centers.
