Hard to imagine this being accidental at this point.

Badly distilled homebrew hooch might do that.

Woman, daughter suing Taco Bell after manager allegedly pours bucket of boiling water over them

Holy shit! What kind of fucked up disaster was this? Scalds are among the worst burn injuries. Skin grafting is not uncommon, disfiguring scars common. What the hell were these individuals thinking?

How about criminal assault charges? That kind of scalding would get a child removed from the home if a parent did it-and why would anyone think this was a good idea?

What. The. Actual. Fuck!?!

The employees appeared to let them into the establishment just to assault them, and they tried to throw boiling water on them TWICE?

The Taco Bell employees should be charged with attempted murder and I think $1 million is way too little compensation from Taco Bell.

Itā€™s been trying to get a hold of India but so far itā€™s been struggling. I wonder if theyā€™ll give up the same way Walmart did in Germany.

Covid, then monkey pox. Now polio?

NEW YORK (AP) ā€” An unvaccinated young adult from New York recently contracted polio, the first U.S. case in nearly a decade, health officials said Thursday.
Officials said the patient, who lives in Rockland County, had developed paralysis. The person developed symptoms a month ago and did not recently travel outside the country, county health officials said.
It appears the patient had a vaccine-derived strain of the virus, perhaps from someone who got live vaccine ā€” available in other countries, but not the U.S. ā€” and spread it, officials said.

Not wild type, easily preventable. This is why we stopped with live virus polio vaccines. But this is the kind of stuff that, if it gets loose in an unvaccinated population, could wreak havoc. Sorry, more havoc.

Thatā€™s the part that scares the hell out of me.

Anti-vaxx was more or less fringe-y pre-Covid. Since that Orange Shitstain turned public health into a litmus test for his faithful, Iā€™m gobsmacked at how many people in my tiny little world are now vocally vaccine-hostile. It doesnā€™t seem reasonable to expect these people to vaccinate their kids for polio now.

I hope this is just a one-off case, easily contained. It just seems like thatā€™s not an automatic assumption anymore.

My brother informs me that this was in the Hassidic community, known for not vaccinating. And his wifeā€™s home town. Potential for scariness increases.

Well, the remaining population of people dependent on iron lungs was quite worried that soon no one would be able to fix their equipment. A few dozen new cases would turn that around.

Even scarier is that those folks are mostly vaccinated. But the young ones will have kids that they may decide not to have vaccinated at all. In about 7-10 years I expect weā€™ll see a resurgence in diseases like measles, mumps, etc etc.

Seeing a huge increase in parents refusing vaccination. It seems like an identity thing at this point. They canā€™t give a reason, and sometimes get hostile if I ask. ā€œYou have no right to pressure meā€ seems to be a line they learned somewhere.

Do they yell about HIPPA too?

Iā€™m sorry you got to deal with that doc. Itā€™s not fair to you.

Not to me, at least not yet. I have gotten some angry responses when I refuse to give them a paper excusing them from vaccines. But even in this crowd, yelling at your doctor about HIPAA seems a bridge too far.

Small mercies, I guess?

Again, Iā€™m sorry. It sucks that youā€™re just doing your job, which is to try and give them the best care and advice for their babbies, and they end up being dickheads about itā€¦
