It may come to that, but counting out all those hundreds is not something they want to do. Can’t blame them for that. I doubt it will be a big deal. My extended family has bought five or six cars there, and they’ve always treated us well.
Ok. Update from what I wrote about on April 5. Not (yet) evicted. But still owe $800 for this month’s rent. Roughly $1200 more rent due June 2. And got text today from real estate agent telling me to pay overdue rent now. Which is problematic as I have $32 in my ‘savings’ account, $-220 in my everyday account, owe $1600 on my credit card (21% interest, yay)… and also got a letter today saying my application for unemployment benefits was rejected. Jesus fucking christ. I can get the rejection reviewed, but I’m so. Fucking. Tired. And really really really not looking forward to the calls I have to make later today to the real estate agency and centrelink (our government agency which runs the unemployment and welfare programs etc.) Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
This probably belongs in the Victory! thread, but since I started here, I’ll continue here…
I got a two-years-newer, 50k miles less, much prettier Land Cruiser for an additional kilobuck (sticker difference was $3100!) And it has a lot more options, too, including the nice seats… By happy coincidence, they hadn’t sent in the DMV paperwork on the other one yet, so no damage there.
Ain’t it pretty???
The dude was laughing his ass off as I moved all the kid seats over to the new one.
Congratulations. Happy for you people!
damn it out of likes.
Donated one on your behalf.
When did hotels in Chicago get so d****d expensive?
All you did was turn her down, bro! If you’re like me, it’s not something you’ve had much experience with!
My debit card got stolen today and I ended up driving all the way home and to the bank to deal with it and get enough cash to make it through 'til they send me a new one. Second time in three years (not counting the false alarm I had last year). Worrying every time I try to pay for something is getting a little old.
Been there; that sucks.
Wow, my credit union just prints a brand new on on site now for debit cards. It is pretty cool.
My credit union is extremely local. I love them to death but they don’t have the kind of resources they would need for that.
So that’s 2 republican governors who aren’t total morons lately
It’s Oklahoma, so she plays one on the TV in campaign ads.
Wait… she plays a republican governor or a moron?
Why the hell did you come to Chicago and not tell me?
As long as I’m on the thread anyway…
Yesterday, while driving in stop-and-go traffic, my car did the thing it does: all of a sudden there’s an ominous jerking and all the lights go on telling me to stop driving ASAP. This is the 5th time now. The entire first month I owned the car, it was at the dealership for repairs (after I’d only driven it about 15 miles) because of this problem. Each time, they bring in experts, swap everything out, it’s all under warranty and I get a loaner car, so other than stress and TIME, I’m not out any actual money. But it’s the 5th time. I’ve told them from the start, there’s something wrong with the car at a basic level. It always hits when I’m either starting to push down on the brake or starting to let up on it, in slow traffic or on side streets where there’s a stop sign at each intersection so again the car isn’t going very quickly. The last time, they literally FLEW IN extra-special specialists to try to figure it out.
The silver lining is that this time, I was within a mile of the dealership (by chance) so I was able to take side streets to get there instead of waiting for a tow truck, which I had to do all the other times. I needed to get the dog in for a checkup by the end of the week, but it looks like that’s probably not going to happen, based on how long I’ve had to use the loaner car before. Otherwise, I’m mobile; thankfully, since I have meetings in different parts of the city every day this week.
Not the end of the world, more like slight agony from a thousand cuts.
So far all I’ve done is make the reservations; we’ll be there for the graduation. I think most of the rooms were reserved by parents at the same time they enrolled their now-graduating offspring in preschool.

I’ve lived on the west coast, Arizona, and spent lotsa time in humid Florida.
I’ll take 115F with 10% humidity over 90F with 85+% humidity any day.
