100 years ago this month Bolton won the first FA Cup final to be played at Wembley, yesterday they won the Pizza Trophy at the new Wembley.
I havenât talked about Carlisle United recently because it looked like the collapse had begun, four games in a row without a Carlisle goal, losing two and not knowing what to say.
They won today.
Other than the result, the attendance is also interesting.
13,410
Carlisleâs highest home attendance in the league since 2007, when 16,668 fans came to the Leeds United game in League One. Itâs crazy to think that we had a big rivalry with them back then.
Leyton Orient are all but champions now. As for Carlisle, weâll see. 12 points from the remaining six games should be enough for automatic promotion, and it is doable, but I am used to disappointment.
Go Cumbrians!
now that the aforementioned hot air has largely passed, there is a lesson in all of this that is worth teasing out. The reason this story is petering out is quite simply that Clark was not willing to play the right wingâs game. In a country where a killer like Kyle Rittenhouse can make a living by showing up for photos ops at closed-door conferences, there is profit in playing to right-wing grievances. But when Clark was askedârepeatedlyâwhether she wanted an apology from Reese or to have Iowa visit the White House with LSU, her responses gave no quarter to the idea that Reese did anything wrong or that Clark needed support from anyone who thinks she did.
Good for her! Iâm sure she realized it was typical shit-talking that players do, and did not feel the need to be coddled from it, lest her delicate white womanhood whither⊠Especially, since she did her own shit talking!
She would have turned off a lot of her own fans if she had - sheâs a notorious shit-talker - with the talent to back it up. I really do think she has the opportunity to help take womenâs basketball to the next level of public attention. She has Steph Curry range and a similar kind of personality.
Monday will see what may be the biggest game in non-league football in decades
Itâs rare that one team breaks past 100 points, two teams doing it in the same season is almost unheard of.
Go Pop!
Lucy Frazer, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, said: "Our two countries would make a perfect location to host Euro 2028. Weâve got iconic stadiums, excellent infrastructure, and perhaps the most important of all, we have some of the most passionate fans in the world.
âIt will be a tournament defined by inclusivity, one where everyone is welcome, and one with a legacy that should inspire future generations.â
The only other bid is Turkey. Can we just skip it for another four years?
